Bab 31: Chapter 29 - Unforgivables

***** REGULAR CHAPTER RELEASE ***** A/N: Not sure how to feel about the Harry Potter show reboot.... I grew up with the books, so not like I was really into the movies..... but feels like there's a lot more content to explore if they really wanted to make a show about HP universe. Like why not make a show about the Marauders in school? Or a Show about Voldemort in school, and display his rise to power?.... I dunno, seems like a missed opportunity to me lol. But anyways... enough with my ranting lol. On to the story! Hope you all enjoy! *****

"CONSTANT VIGILANCE!"

The entire class jumped with shock at Moody's sudden outburst.

"Lets get right to it then!" He growled. "Who can tell me which 3 curses are most heavily punished by current wizarding law?"

'Still 3 curses for the unforgivables.' Khan thought to himself, remembering his own use of the forbidden spells. He sometimes used the 3 spells, albeit under very unique circumstances.

Khan watched as several hands rose high into the air. He only recognized a few students, but as usual Hermione was raising her hand.... and surprisingly so was Ron.

"You!" Moody's eye whirled around to stare at Ron. "You'll be Weasley's son, eh? Well.... go on then."

"Ummm..... My dad told me about one...." Ron started out hesitantly, having never voluntarily answered a question in class previously. "Is it called the Imperius Curse..... or something like that?"

"Ah, yes!" Moody nodded in response. "Your father would know that one..... gave the ministry a lot of problems previously, that Imperius Curse."

Reaching into his desk, he pulled out a large glass jar, housing 3 large black spiders, subsequently handing it over to Khan.

"Take out a spider for me, boy."

Khan did as he was told, placing a spider on the floor at the front of the class.

Moody then pointed his wand at the spider, mutter aloud. "Imperio!"

Khan watched as a green light, the signature color of dark magic, flashed towards the spider.

Moody began to wave his wand around, while holding out his other hand.

The spider leapt from from the floor onto Moody's lowered hand, before jumping on a fine piece of silk over to Khan's shoulder. Swinging off his shoulder, the spider then did a backflip landing on Moody's desk, where it began to cartwheel in circles.

Still not done with the demonstration, Moody then waved his wand again, causing the cartwheeling spider to stop, and raise two of it's hind legs, beginning to move back and forth in what Khan recognized as a tap-dance.

Khan looked on in interest. He really only used this unforgivable spell in combat, Imperio being the one he used only when he was fighting large groups of enemies, using his controlled minion mainly as distraction. It was quite intriguing to Khan, watching this alternate use of the spell.

Everyone else was laughing, except for Khan and Moody.

"Think its funny do you?" Moody growled out. "You'd like it, would you? If I did that to you and made you do it?!?"

The laughter died down immediately.

"Total control." Khan followed up solemnly. "That's what this spell does. Gives total control to the caster."

"Aye... I could make this spider jump out the window, or drown itself if I wanted." Moody continued gravely. "Years back during the 2nd wizarding war, there were tons of wizards and witches being controlled by this spell."

"The ministry had a hell of a time trying to tell who was under the curse and who wasn't." He said, looking pointedly at Ron. "Can you imagine how difficult it was for people like your father.... trying to sort out who was being forced to act, and who was acting of their own free will?"

"This curse however, can be fought!" He barked. "And I'll be teaching you all soon..... but it takes real strength of character, and not everyone has it! Like many dangerous spells and curses, you are better off just dodging the spell!"

Khan nodded in agreement, while gathering up the dancing spider and placing it back in the jar. Although he was quite proficient with Protegeo, often times combining it with stupefy to follow up, he preferred to dodge and flash step around dangerous spells, allowing him to instead use his magic offensively, following up with lethal spell combinations.

It seemed Moody did indeed know what it was like to be in combat, fighting dark magic and wizards.

Grabbing another spider and placing it on the ground, Khan followed up, clapping his hands together in the process, and calling the class's attention to himself.

"Anyone know another illegal curse?" Khan asked, in Junior Professor mode. "Just 2 remaining!"

Hermione once again shot up her hand, this time accompanied by a rotund boy, looking a little like Ron; unsure of himself, having never volunteered to answer in class previously.

Wanting to learn more names, Khan decided to call on the unknown boy, instead of Hermione.

"You there!"

".....The Cruciatus Curse..." The boy responded clearly, but hesitantly.

"Correct!" Khan congratulated the timid boy. "While the Imperio Curse causes you to lose total control, the Cruciatus curse instead causes you to feel pain. If you want to torture someone..... Thumbscrews, acid, nails, knives.... none of it is necessary with this spell...."

"I will cast it on the spider to demonstrate. Please watch the spider's bodily reactions closely." Khan said, holding up his wand.

"Crucio!"

The spider's legs immediately folded in upon its body, rolling over on its back, no longer able to support itself. It began to twitch horribly, at odd intervals, rocking from side to side in clear pain and discomfort.

Khan released the spell, after holding it a few seconds to demonstrate the effect clearly to the class.

"Thank you for your assistan-" Khan was about to thank the timid boy for his assistance when he noticed his posture and facial expression; hands clenched, knuckles white, with eyes wide open in horror.

It was a posture and facial expression Khan was familiar with, as it was the same one he had himself, right after Natty was hit with the same spell (chapter 12 flashback).

It appears this timid boy has a close relative or friend who was suffering at the hands of this curse, if his reaction is any indication.

"It's ok my friend, it is just a demonstration.... on a spider no less..... creepy things really ('Yeah!' agreed Ron in the background)....just try to relax." Khan attempted to calm to poor boy down, not wanting his first formal teaching attempt to end in a stressful situation for the boy. "What ever happened, it's not your fault.... don't blame yourself."

It's the same thing he almost did when Natty had gotten hit with the Crucio spell (rescuing him) at the hands of Harlow. It was the same thing for Natty as well, constantly blaming herself (since he died rescuing her) for her Father's death.

The 2 of them were able to talk it through together however, to realize they each were not to blame for the results. Natty did not blame Khan for her suffering, thus also realizing in the process that her dad probably didn't blame her for his death. Hopefully he could help this boy also come to the same conclusion.

"Longbottom is it? See me after class." Moody cut in, apparently recognizing the boy, before turning back to address Khan. "And you boy, good job.... you may carry on with teaching the 3rd curse."

"Right then... Carrying on." Khan stated looking back to the students. "Who can tell me what the final illegal curse is?"

Once again, Hermione's hand shot into the air, this time being the only one who apparently knew the last unforgivable.

"Ms. Granger!" Khan finally called on her.

"Adava Kedavra." Hermione almost whispered in response.

"Correct! As expected Ms. Granger, very good!" Khan congratulated her, before continuing to explain. "The final unforgivable, Adava Kedavra, is known as the killing curse... And it does exactly as described.... Kill!"

Taking out another spider, and placing it on the floor, Khan took aim with his wand, in preparation to demonstrate the curse for the class.

"Adava Kedavra!"

Khan watched as his spell impacted the spider. Instantaneously the spider rolled over on its back, unmarked, but unmistakably dead.

"Probably the nastiest of the 3 spells, if I'm being honest." Khan followed up. "There's no counter-curse, no way of blocking it (save large physical objects you can hide behind); you can only avoid the spell and try to dodge it. Honestly.... probably the best thing you can learn for Defense in general, is how to dodge spells."

"Good job boy!" Moody once again praised Khan for his lesson.

"Although you are slightly incorrect about 1 fact... One person has successfully blocked it and survived to tell the tale.... and hes sitting right in front of us." He followed up, looking at Harry pointedly.

'Right...Harry somehow survived 'blocked' the killing curse...' Khan thought to himself. 'I really need to investigate that pink protegeo looking magic surrounding him'

"But sir..... don't we have defensive spells like protegeo?" Asked a slightly pale looking girl, sitting beside Ms. Parvati Patil. "Obviously not for the killing curse, since you just said its unblock-able, but for other spells.... Why is dodging better in general?"

"Good question Ms...."

"Brown sir."

"Well.... there are a lot of different factors to consider when blocking a spell." Khan explained. "What spell is it, and how are you blocking it? Are you using a counter-curse, or Protegeo or some other kind of defensive measure? Is your enemy more magically powerful than you? Will your protegeo stand up against that type of spell or that much magical power?"

"Dodging allows you simplify your reaction to a spell cast at you. The best thing to do in combat, is to keep things simple." Khan continued. "There is too much happening all at once, and split seconds often mean the difference between victory and defeat. Instead of analyzing the spell, trying to figure out the best way to block it in the moment, you simply dodge. Killing curse? Dodge. Unknown spell? Dodge."

"That's right boy! Dodging is the best method for Defense." Moody Barked out, agreeing with Khan, before turning to address the class. "Do you think you'll be able to block a spell if your opponent knows silent casting? What about wandless casting?"

Pausing, he looked around at the class hanging on his every word.

"The killing curse is a powerful bit of magic." Moody continued. "The lot of you could all get out your wands to cast the curse at me, and I would wager that I wouldn't get more than a bloody nose. You need to really mean it, like with any of the unforgivables....."

"This is what you're up against. This is what the worst looks like." He finished gravely. "You need to be always ready! Always prepared!"

"CONSTANT VIGILENCE!"

*RING* *RING*

The entire class jumped once again, as the Bell went off... did the lesson really just pass that quickly?

"I expect an essay on the 3 unforgivable curses, due next class!" Moody barked out as he dismissed the class. "Minimum 3 feet!"

Khan watched, as the students gathered their things, delightedly discussing the lesson as they exited the classroom.

"Did you see it doing flips?"

".....the way it was twitching?"

"Did you see it just flop over on its back like that?"

"They both really know their stuff!"

Khan felt quite proud of himself, listening to their comments as they departed. 'Not too bad for my first attempt at teaching.'

Fake Moody meanwhile, was observing Khan in suspicion.

'I didn't know this boy was so proficient at the Unforgivables.' He thought to himself. 'I could feel his magical power when he cast Adava Kedavra..... I guess I need to Imperio Moody to tell me more about him.'

Fake Moody, or Crouch Jr, had researched the Khan family when he had recently learned that he would be mentoring the young Lord. Unfortunately for him, there wasn't much for him to find, with the family disappearing in the early 1900s.

Having observed the boy in combat against the aurors during the world cup, he knew Khan was quite proficient at fighting and dueling. He was unaware however, that the young lord also knew (and was quite proficient) at the unforgivables as well.

'He could be a hindrance to my master's plan.' Fake moody thought to himself frustrated.
