As rational and science-forward as Varya's brain was, she still had the superstition that weather on one's wedding day could predict how easy or hard their marriage was going to be.
That morning, they were predicted to have spotty weather with partial sun. It worried Varya that she was going to be cold in the dress she had chosen.
Throughout her and Ebari's time together as they got ready, she would occasionally go to the balcony off of the main area of her quarters and peer at the distance, watching for the thickness and color of the clouds. Each time she silently willed the clouds to go in the opposite direction or pass by them altogether.
