The longer Varya was in a position of power, the more she realized certain attributes of herself were starting to come to the surface again - the ones she recognized most being haughtiness and impatience.

They were responses to stress and the desire to get things completed on a schedule so she wouldn't have to stress about them for longer than necessary. 

Despite being on a strict deadline and Ebari suffering through it with her, things had fallen in place smoothly and she felt everything was going as planned until she received the communication that Basileus was going to be late. 

There were no details as to how late, all that he had said was that he was going to be later than he expected.
