Continuing Jossie's POV:
It wasn't long after Camren had disappeared from my view before someone else had come up the stairs. A panicked and sick amusement written on his face. The whispers about me seemed to stop as a new gossip spread through the crowd like wildfire. They dashed for the stairs. I could smell the jealousy fading as they all wanted to see what was happening downstairs.
"Come quickly! There is a fight downstairs," the person said towards the ones that remained here. "An old hag is being choked by a handsome suitor!" I rose from my knees to get back on my feet. What was happening now?
My heart was swelling as I made my way downstairs to see for myself. I pushed past a thick crowd of drunk werewolves in fancy ball uniforms and dresses. I made my way towards what they were looking at. When I breached the first line of people my heart dropped through my chest in horror. There she was- the woman I dreamed dead for the past week. She was in a beige ash-colored dress with a slitted marry front. She had on dior - dway heels that matched the beige ash. Mother looked like a nymph in her dress. I knew it was my mother- but it didn't seem like her. Maybe it was from the lack of seeing her for so long. My empty feelings I now felt towards her...
Casimir was choking her against a beam and guards were holding him at gun point and informing him to let her go. He wasn't budging. I ran out to him and was quickly tackled by a guard.
"No madam, stay back!" He yelled as he pushed me to the crowd and their arms took hold of me to prevent me from moving. "Where is Beta Ethan?" He asked frantically.
"Casimir," I whined in worry. What if they shoot him!? On the other side I spotted Nathalie and Veronica looking worriedly my way. I gave them a look 'we had to do something.' How could we just stand here? I looked back at Casimir. "Let her go, Cas!" He wasn't hearing me. He was threatening to snap her neck.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill her," Casimir said. My mother's face was loosing color as she seemed to be close to dying. My eyes were disturbed as I looked away from her face. I had no reason why he should not kill her. I wanted her dead. I wanted to be in his shoes. I just don't want anyone to hurt him after he does kill her.
A man stepped out of the crowd. His hands held up so the guards would be cautious as well. He was a rich dark haired man with pale skin. His ancestors were from the nippon ages. His hair was dark and curled into his eyes freely of any wax. I never saw hair so dark- almost like my father's. He was still young in appearance. His eyes were dark like midnight slits as they met with the guards and shook violently in their sockets.
"Put your guns down," the nippon man demanded.
"On whose authority?" The guard asked- more like barked. Things were becoming heated as I heard growls erupt from the crowd as warnings. Like the king's pack would back up the guard on an instant call. I was frightened by the sounds.
"The kings," he said quickly.
"Put your guns down," I heard a woman's voice say as she walked out of the crowd. She too was an omega- scented wolf. She was very plain looking with brown hair and eyes. She was dressed in one of the servant uniforms and according to her status I believed her to be high up in rank.
"Ms. Charlotte, my apologies," the guard said as he motioned for them to lower their guns. Just as I had thought. They deemed the omega worthy to bow to. The man that came through the crowd with more authority then I believed he had went straight for Casimir. He placed a hand on his and tried to get him to ease up from choking. I was surprised. He was trying his hardest to persuade Casimir to stop and was trying not to hurt either of them.
"Stop, Stop!" the guy begged.
"Who is that?" I asked quickly for any answer I could receive.
"Who is he?" I heard the guard asking Charlotte. She would not answer as all eyes grew on Casimir's situation. Casimir smacked the guy away. A hand print was left on the man's face.
"Stop! That's my wife!"
"Itsuki," I heard my mother pleading. I felt my jaw dropping.
What the fuck is going on here?
The fellow- Itsuki moved quickly in-between Casimir and my mother and suddenly kissed her on the lips. Casimir stumbled backwards as if he had been shocked in his finger tips. They suddenly were bleeding from the nails- but I realized it wasn't his blood. My mother's neck was healing as she locked lips with that stranger. I felt repulsed instantly. Itsuki moved away from the kiss. Never- have I witnessed-
"I release you from the spell," Itsuki said quickly as he waved his hand and sparks flew from his index finger straight to my mother. Her body began to morph and shapeshift into another being nothing like her. Her dress moved to fit around her body by magic. Her hair turned straight and thinned into dark locks. Her eyes faded in color to be completely void of any. Her height and weight shaped into a completely differently woman along with her face. Itsuki wrapped his arms around her as if to protect her as he stared suddenly at Casimir. "This is not who you want to kill. This is my wife, Aoki."
"What just happened?" The head guard asked.
"What do you mean?" Casimir asked.
I broke away from the crowd to rush to his side and held his hand as I made myself aware I would protect him at all costs. I growled in warning towards the guards. "Who are you people?" Casimir growled towards Itsuki and Aoki.
"Why did you deceive us? How long has she been Ms. Rabidcrest?" Casimir asked as he was finally checking in to what was going on.
"Aoki," Itsuki whispered in his wife's ear. "Everything is fine. Thank you for doing my bidding."
"You said I wouldn't get hurt," Aoki cried out into his chest as he held her in loyal arms. He nodded as he ran his fingers through her smooth hair.
"What is going on here?" The guard asked.
"Please excuse them. They were doing as the king asked," I heard Charlotte telling the guard as she pointed towards the two couple I was trying to keep Casimir from attacking. "Itsuki you should leave if you know what's best for you," she warned him. He bowed his head slightly her way.
"Thank you Ms. Charlotte."
"Who the f- What is going on here?" Casimir asked as he looked down at me for answers. I didn't have much to say to him. I was just as confused. But, glad he was alive. I watched as Itsuki walked over to the crowd with his lover in tow. Casimir pushed me away from him as he walked towards Itsuki. "Hey, I have questions! Where do you think you're going?" He asked them. "You need to answer me right now! What have you two been doing for the king, exactly? Who are you people?" Ms. Charlotte stepped between the two and held her arms out wide to block Casimir from approaching any further.
"Please do not harass him," Charlotte said calmly.
"Harass?!" Casimir roared and his voice drove in a larger crowd. I watched as the two disappeared into the crowd as they were gladly taken away from us. Casimir shoved her towards the people and she fell flat on her butt. She looked up in anger. His could match hers easily. "What is going on?" He pressed again. A few people helped her to her feet and growled at us.
"It's alright," she assured her pack mates. "They're still welcomed guests under the king," she assured once more. The king... the king! I rushed to Casimir's side as I thought about what just happened to me upstairs.
"We need to leave," I begged him. I tugged on his arm as I looked for Nathalie and Veronica. "We need to leave now!" My frantic eyes spotted them nodding my way as they went into the crowd as if to say they were going to find us an easy way out of here. I'm sure they'll have the car waiting for us outside. I just want them out of here before things get out of hand. I don't need them to be associating with me right now.
"I have strict orders not to let you go anywhere," Charlotte said as she seemed to be listening to something in her ear piece. She pressed a button down near her shirt as it hung there by a clip. "I found them, sir. Please make your way into the second ball room." I froze up in fear as the crowd seemed to split apart. I could see him suddenly- Camren as he made his way to us. A growl ripped through his throat. I trembled as Casimir's eyes met where I was looking.
"Is that the king?" Casimir asked me softly.
"Yes," I whispered. Heads began to bow in his presence as he passed them. I noticed everyone was now kneeling in unison as he stopped only a few feet from us.
"That is my mate," Camren said as his eyes landed on me. "Take her someplace safe." His order went out to the guards and Casimir wrapped an arm around me to protect me suddenly. He growled a warning to the cowards hesitating to grab me. I growled quickly in warning. I wasn't going away without a fight! The guards were hesitating now with uncertainty. They weren't sure how to act now that I was growling at them.
"Josephine is my mate," Casimir growled as he exposed my neck by brushing the cloth away from it to show everyone the delicate mark that would release a scent from being exposed. I was truly his. I saw Camren's nose flare from being offended. "As I am her mate. This is proof we are mated." Casimir would show his own mark I gave him. "We were chosen by the goddess of fate. Please do not offend her." Camren stepped forward as his eyes darkened.
"I know that is a lie," Camren snarled our way. "For her scent calls to me- and me alone. We have been fated by the goddess. If you don't give her up I will have to kill you. Let everyone in this room bare witness to my claim!" He reached out for my hand. "Come so I can mark you, Josephine." I heard the crowd whispering suddenly of the drama at play. I felt ashamed they were now thinking this was either of our faults.
"I will never," I snarled towards Camren. "Casimir is who I love. He is who I am mated to. I tried to reject you. Please let us be now in peace. Accept my rejection, Camren."
"Josephine is staying by my side as long as she wishes," Casimir said as he leaned in and kissed my cheek. I could feel he was emotionally hyped to attack Camren if need be. He was bloodthirsty from only moments before.
"Than... I shall kill you to have what's mine," Camren concluded.
"Not while I'm around," I heard a snarl come from the crowd as a man stepped out to separate and cut us off from one another. I picked up on the scent instantly. The rogue king, Ezekiel- Casimir's father. It was scents all tied together for me to recognize. Plus, they looked way too similar. "Run kids," his father said over his shoulder. I heard a few more growls erupt from the crowd as I noticed more were here from his pack. They made their way out to stand beside us.
Camren growled as he noticed what was happening. His eyes wondered around as if he was looking for someone. "Where is Ethan?" He asked suddenly to the head guard in the area.
"I do not know, your majesty,' The head guard would say and shrugged. I could see it in Camren's eyes he had concluded something on his own about where Ethan had gone off to. It was something he would not explain to us.
"Very well... Here are my orders, kill Casimir and anyone that tries to stop you. Make sure Josephine comes back to me alive," Camren ordered. I could feel Ezekiel's men coming forward to cause a distraction as they pounced at the guards surrounding us.
I felt Casimir pick me up suddenly as he ran for a window. He threw us through it and we landed on the other side. He ripped through his clothes as he transformed into his wolf and I got on top of him as I realized what was happening. He took off towards the woods. I heard howls break out around us. My heart raced as I heard growls break out inside the ball room. I could hear paws rushing after us suddenly to come and take me back. I could smell Camren's blood splatter suddenly in the fresh air as if he was already injured.
"What about your father?" I asked Casimir in panic. He is clearly outnumbered.
'They're not really after him. They won't kill him,' Casimir thought to me. 'We'll be able to slip into my father's territory in no time. I'm a fast runner," he assured me. 'When we get there we will be safe from his command for now. My father's men only listen to him. They'll welcome us since I am his son.'
"My sister is dead, he threw her off the balcony," I told him suddenly. "He knew everything. Even about the potion she was going to slip him. He told me he's got my mother and he plans on taking her back to the Rabidcrest pack. So he can execute her there for everything she's done so far."
'How does he know so much?' My thoughts lingered on who we just met. What was his name? Itsuki? And, his mate Aoki.
"Must have been something he concocted with Itsuki," I whispered. It was all I could reason it out to be. I leaned forward and buried my face into his neck.
'Does he know you killed your father?'
'He only believes I've been set up by my mother for his murder.'
'Good, he'll pin it all on her when he takes her back to Rabidcrest pack. That's one good thing out of this. Our names will be cleared and we won't be wanted for murder. Now we just have to outrun him from this damn territory.'
'Please get us safe passage out of this territory,' I begged quietly for only the moon goddess to hear. 'Don't let anything happen to Nathalie and Veronica. Please let Casimir's father get out alive. Please persuade Camren to accept my rejecting.'
