Judging from all the evidence within this box, this kitten is likely abandoned. This is very common and all too common. It may be because of various reasons, like someone in the family is pregnant, a guest is allergic, can't afford it, or doesn't want to raise it. Most of the pets that were abandoned are swept out of the house. In contrast, the kitten at least had a cardboard box to shelter it from the wind and rain.

However, the person who raised it before may have been a child who was put under the pressure of his parents to get rid of it and then kindly prepared a box for the kitten. However, the child forgot to put a few holes in the cardboard box.

If it is discovered a little later, it may suffocate inside.
