Bab 2: Chapter 2: Meimei

Soon, Kamihara Hajime found a hall. This place was originally used for activities at the welfare institute, and its location wasn't originally here. However, in this strange environment, it had appeared here.

After running into the hall and quickly scanning his surroundings to find an escape route, Kamihara Hajime stood ready for the enemy's arrival. Soon, the eerie sounds drew closer.

The door creaked open, and a large group of strange creatures surged in. Upon closer inspection, these were the same little monsters he had encountered earlier, but this time, there were far more of them.

These creatures, each different from the other, let out unintelligible, eerie cries as they quickly crawled toward Kamihara Hajime, entangling together in a way that made his scalp tingle.

Although he could use his "Psychic Power" to strengthen his body, his stamina was ultimately limited. And since Kamihara Hajime was still a child, dealing with these monsters was proving to be a real challenge.

"Let's try to eliminate them first. There's no way out of here. If I start running low on energy, I'll have to find a way to hide," he thought.

After eliminating a dozen or so, Kamihara Hajime decisively began a tactical retreat. The number of monsters was growing, and it seemed impossible to fight them all. As everything around him froze, Kamihara Hajime sprinted out of the hall, escaping from the clutches of the little creatures.

When the creatures regained movement, they found nothing in the hall. After a brief moment of chaos, the odd little creatures resumed their aimless wandering.

"Hmm? What's that noise?"

Kamihara Hajime, cautiously advancing, thought he had heard something, but when he listened closely, it went silent. Then, a loud, ear-piercing crash caught his attention. It sounded like a building collapsing.

"And... it sounds like it's quite close? Should I check it out?"

Normally, Kamihara Hajime wouldn't take such a risk, but right now, he had no idea how to escape this place. He decided to take every possible opportunity to explore, and with his confidence in his ability to escape quickly, he decided to investigate.

He cautiously moved toward the source of the sound, and the scene he witnessed almost made him curse aloud. In his line of sight, a massive creature was moving.

It was a grotesque, gigantic baby-like monster, enlarged countless times. Its eyes were pitch-black voids, and its mouth was stitched up with dark, bloody thread, though it still emitted a low, sorrowful wail. This three-story-high monster was crawling toward a small building.

"Is there someone there?"

Kamihara Hajime saw what appeared to be a figure inside the building, frantically trying to escape. After a brief moment of thought, Kamihara Hajime decided to move closer. This huge monster was likely the source of the chaos here. If he could eliminate it, would that allow him to leave?

The huge monster quickly approached the building, and with a few swipes, it tore the building apart. When it pulled back, it was holding a young woman in its grasp. She was being dragged toward the monster's enormous mouth, screaming in terror.

"That's...?"

Kamihara Hajime recognized her immediately. Her name was Akihara Haruno, a staff member at the welfare institute. She was kind and gentle, treating all the children with love and respect, which made her beloved and respected by everyone.

"Put her down!"

From a distance, Kamihara Hajime picked up a piece of rubble from the collapsed building and hurled it at the giant monster. The stone hit it, but it caused no harm. As Kamihara Hajime watched helplessly, Akihara Haruko was swallowed by the monster's massive mouth.

Anger surged through Kamihara Hajime's heart. At that moment, he desperately wished he had the power to kill this monster, but the size difference between them was too great. Even if he used his enhanced speed, what damage could his punches and kicks do?

As all his negative emotions exploded, Kamihara Hajime suddenly felt his "Psychic Power" surge within him, and he even lost sense of its limits.

Then a thought arose in his mind: his punches and kicks caused little damage, but he had been able to hit these creatures using "Psychic Power." Could he use it to attack this monster directly?

Kamihara Hajime had tried to project his "Psychic Power" before, but its effects on the outside world had been limited. He usually only used it to strengthen his body. Now, however, this might be one of the few ways he could harm the massive creature, so he decided to give it a try.

With gritted teeth, Kamihara Hajime focused on the creature, using his mind to channel the "Psychic Power." As the gigantic monster slowly moved toward him, it closed the distance in a matter of moments. Feeling anxious, Kamihara Hajime realized that his "Psychic Power" had started to move.

He focused all of it into his right hand, then extended his right arm toward the oncoming monster, steadying it with his left hand.

"Die!"

With Kamihara Hajime's childish scream, a flash of blue light erupted, and the massive monster staggered, its body shattered. A large hole appeared in the building behind it, as though something had pierced both the monster and the building.

Falling from the broken body of the monster was Akihara Haruko, unconscious but with no visible serious injuries. Her fate was uncertain.

Kamihara Hajime, feeling like his energy had been drained, almost collapsed. He steadied himself, his vision blurring. The giant monster, now without three limbs, fell to the ground. Despite its apparent near-death state, it still tried to crawl, but it was in vain.

As Kamihara Hajime felt his "Psychic Power" recover at an abnormal speed, he regained his footing. Looking at the immobile creature on the ground, he walked toward it.

His emotions were mixed, still boiling with anger, but Kamihara Hajime remained surprisingly calm, observing everything from a detached perspective. It was a strange feeling—contradictory, yet harmonious, as if he was effortlessly drawing circles with his left hand and squares with his right.

Kamihara Hajime knew something was off with his current state, but this surge of emotion felt real and came from within.

Fortunately, a part of him still remained clear-headed, preventing the emotions from overwhelming his reasoning.

The enormous monster was still trying to crawl toward him, but Kamihara Hajime, his anger rising, couldn't stop himself.

"Kill it!"

It was as if a voice was repeating this in his ear, a voice he couldn't resist. Kamihara Hajime stepped closer, gathering his "Psychic Power" into his clenched fist. At first glance, his right hand seemed to burn with an intense blue flame.

The monster's body was already disintegrating, but Kamihara Hajime, driven by his fury, could only think of landing one powerful punch, putting all his anger into it.

And so, Kamihara Hajime raised his small fist. To an ordinary person, it might have looked somewhat amusing or cute, but to someone with expertise, the blue flame around his hand was overwhelming.

As he swung his fist, time seemed to slow down, and Kamihara Hajime clearly saw how the blue flame around his hand slowly turned black.

A strange sensation filled his heart. At this moment, Kamihara Hajime could clearly feel his "Psychic Power" flowing through his right hand, syncing perfectly with his body's movements.

Breathing! Yes, it was like breathing. In this moment, his "Psychic Power" and his body were in perfect harmony. He no longer needed to consciously control it; his "Psychic Power" responded instinctively.

As his fist collided with the giant monster's head, the black flame easily tore through everything. A massive explosion rang out.

Kamihara Hajime watched as the monster's body was annihilated, piece by piece. The sound of the destruction was the anguished cry of the ground beneath them breaking apart.

As the monster's remains dissolved, Kamihara Hajime's emotions began to calm. Once the "Psychic Power" dissipated, an overwhelming sense of weakness took over, and he slumped to the ground, his right hand throbbing in pain.

"Tap tap..."

The sound of footsteps approached, and Kamihara Hajime cautiously looked up. A graceful figure emerged from the shadows, with white hair tied into a ponytail. Her black uniform couldn't conceal her striking figure.

Seeing that the newcomer was a person, not one of the bloodied monsters, Kamihara Hajime breathed a sigh of relief. But... she looked strangely familiar. Before he could think further, the beautiful woman with white hair approached, her expression a mix of confusion and shock.

Her voice was smooth and magnetic, fitting her appearance and figure. She looked at Kamihara Hajime, who was sitting weakly on the ground but still alert, and asked, "You can call me Meimei, little one. Why are you here? Have you seen anyone else?"
