Bab 4: 4. Escape
Alex doesn't tell Ultear about his escape plan, so now she is sleeping in her room after her experiment is over.
He doesn't tell her to avoid her acting suspiciously in front of the researchers. Besides, this escape plan depends on him, so it's fine even if she doesn't help.
A few hours after the experiments on him are finished, Alex finally starts his plan. He has recovered almost all of his magic power, so he can start now.
"Are you ready, Shukaku?"
"Always am. I'll help you anytime, so you can go all out, kid!"
Alex nods while getting ready to transform.
"Take Over! Beast Soul: Shukaku! Partial Form!"
Alex transforms into the usual Shukaku humanoid form. But now, even his legs are transforming even though they are still smaller than his arms.
After transforming, he quickly breaks the cuffs and collar on his limbs and neck that are tied with chains to the wall.
Breaking those things is easy now with his current power. They should be strong enough to even hold S-Rank creatures, but Shukaku has the power to control metal to some extent because of his Magnet Release ability.
His Nature Transformations are Wind and Earth. By combining them, he gains Magnet Release, so he can control metal with it.
But now, Alex needs to break through the real obstacle, the walls and door of his room. The walls, door, and ceiling are coated with anti-magic materials to prevent any test subjects from escaping.
He's sure that even the floor also has it, but it must be hidden beneath the top layer. If it's put on top, then they can't force Alex to transform in the room for the experiments.
"But doing that is your biggest mistake."
Alex puts his hands on the floor that is made out of the same metals as the cuffs and chains he broke just now.
"Break!"
The top metal layer that doesn't negate his magic breaks apart, leaving only a tile beneath him. He controls the metal scraps and forms a big metal ball.
Then he slams that metal ball to the door as strong as he can. While the door's materials can negate magic, it surely can't negate the force caused by the powerful throw, so it breaks open.
The sound of the door breaking wakes up Ultear because it's very loud. It also triggers the alarm of the facility and wakes up everyone there.
Alex steps out of his room after making a path using the metal scraps to avoid stepping on the anti-magic layer beneath the floor.
When he comes out of the isolated room, he feels his body very refreshed. Being surrounded by anti-magic materials all the time has suppressed his magic even if they didn't completely negate it.
Now, he actually feels twice as strong as his usual self. The anti-magic materials around him actually suppressed half of his real power.
"I feel like flying in the cloud now."
Alex moves toward Ultear's room and tells her to get away because he will break the door. She moves to the side and Alex breaks it using the same method he used to break his door.
"Let's go, Ultear. Let's get out of here."
Alex extends his big beast hand to Ultear and the little girl takes it while crying happily. He tells her to climb on his back and sits on his shoulder because now his body is bigger than adults. It's also easier to move if she is on his shoulders.
After Ultear sits on his shoulder, Alex breaks the floor in her room too. He needs more metal scraps for his escape plan.
Alex then runs following Ultear's direction because she knows the way out of the prison room.
He breaks down the metal scraps into very small pieces until they become like sand. The metal sand moves around him and scrapes the metal floor, forming it into metal sands too which increases his ammunition.
On the way out, he also breaks open the doors of other prison cells to release the other test subjects using some metal balls he made with the metal sand.
"FOLLOW ME IF YOU WANT TO LEAVE THIS PLACE! ADULTS HELP THE CHILDREN! DON'T LAG BEHIND TOO FAR OR I WON'T BE ABLE TO PROTECT YOU!"
The test subjects are confused at first, but they all finally come to their senses after some of them run out of the prison cells. As Alex asked, the adults help the children or the ones who can't move well.
They move behind Alex who keeps breaking cell doors to help every test subject out of this cursed facility.
But when they almost reach the exit, some layers of security doors are blocking the exit. Alex knows those layers must have been made of anti-magic materials, but he just grins.
He forms the metal sand into a massive spear head with a very sharp tip. Then he throws it as strong as he can and even shoots a powerful wind bullet from his mouth to push the giant metal spear head faster.
His metal spear hits the door and breaks it even though it has some very thick layers of strong metals and even anti-magic layers. The power of that attack is stronger than what the researchers have anticipated if something like this happens.
They can finally come out of the prison, but it's not over yet because they are still inside the facility.
"Kid, put your hands on the floor."
Shukaku suddenly asks Alex to put his hands on the floor and Alex just does it without asking the reason.
"Good. The only places with anti-magic materials that suppress our power are the prisons behind us and another place ahead of us."
"How do you know?"
"I can feel the metal and bricks in this whole building. Bricks are made of earth, so I can feel them as well. But I can't feel those anti-magic materials, so they just feel like gaps between layers of metal and bricks."
"I see. That's why you couldn't check anything out of our prison cell. The anti-magic materials blocked your power, after all."
"That's right. Now let's destroy this place! HAHAHA!"
"Wait! We need to get these people out of here first. I also want to check the other place with anti-magic materials. Maybe there are more test subjects there."
"Tch, fine."
"Where's the closest place for them to get out?"
"To your left."
Alex turns to the left and uses his Metal Release to break the metal walls in front of him. Shukaku has detected that this building is mostly made out of metal instead of bricks like normal buildings.
Maybe because they need it to be very sturdy for their experiments.
After opening a path for the test subjects to escape, Alex tells them to get out first. He also asks Ultear to follow them getting out of this facility.
"W-what about you, Alex?"
"There's still a place I need to check. Maybe there are still other test subjects here. I want to save them all."
"Then I will follow you. I can use my magic now, so I'm sure I can help you. And we promise to get out together."
Alex doesn't want to bring other people because it will be difficult for him to move. But he doesn't have time to argue with Ultear, so he agrees to take her.
The other prisoners can't help though, so they move to get out of the facility while Alex and Ultear go to the place Shukaku mentioned.
Ultear is on Alex's shoulders again because she can't move as fast as him with her short legs.
But she really proves herself to be very helpful to Alex. She uses Ice Make magic to create different objects made of ice to attack the enemies that try to block their way.
Her magic is actually more powerful than he thought. Though it's still not strong enough to defeat the enemy Mages. So Alex also attacks to finish them.
But thanks to Ultear's magic attacks that distract the enemies, they can't defend against Alex's attacks. He made metal spears to stab them when they are distracted by Ultear's magic, so it becomes easy to kill them.
Strangely, Alex is very calm even after killing a lot of people. He thought it would be unpleasant, but maybe thanks to his resentment to them, he doesn't feel a bit of sympathy for these people.
They arrive at the place with anti-magic materials surrounding it. Ultear says this is where they do experiments on her, so this is not another prison.
Alex quickly breaks open the door just like how he broke the big anti-magic door before. When he steps inside, he sees many people are gathering there. Among them are the researchers who are experimenting on him every day.
"So this is where you are, huh? Good thing I came here first before leaving. I really miss those faces of yours, you know."
Alex is grinning like a devil when he sees them. He can finally get his revenge on these scums.
