Bab 22: The Enchanted Princess
In the grand palace room, Princess Elena sat by the large window overlooking the royal garden. At the age of 19, she had more freedom to explore the world beyond the castle walls, although she often chose to stay within the palace, enjoying her moments of leisure. On this day, she decided to read a manga she had been wanting to try, Your Lie in April (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso) Volume 1, which had just been published.
Princess Elena was beautiful, with long golden-brown hair that always shimmered in the sunlight. Her bright blue eyes radiated cheerfulness, and her sweet smile could capture anyone's attention. Since she was young, she had often been the center of attention, not only because of her status as a princess but also due to her cheerful and sociable character. She enjoyed making others smile and felt fulfilled every time she could bring happiness to those around her.
As she opened the first page of the manga, Elena eagerly anticipated embarking on a new adventure in the story. She began reading, and as Your Lie in April unfolded, her eyes sparkled with deep interest. Behind the main character's struggles with life's challenges, Elena sensed an emotional depth that touched her heart. Without realizing it, she smiled widely, feeling a connection to the characters in the story.
"How fascinating... Just like me, he tries to bring happiness even though he faces so many challenges. I want to be like that—to bring joy to more people, not just in this kingdom, but in the world beyond. This world might be full of challenges, but I believe that if we face them with a smile, everything will be better."
However, as Elena delved into the deeper chapters, she began to feel confused by one element of the story—music. In Your Lie in April, the main character, Kousei, plays the piano, often depicted playing melodies that are so beautiful. But Elena had never heard such an instrument before. The world she knew did not yet have instruments like the piano or violin. The musical instruments used in the kingdom were simpler—like traditional stringed instruments and some percussion.
Princess Elena tilted her head, trying to imagine the sound of the piano described so emotionally in the story. "Piano? Violin?" she wondered to herself. "What are these instruments mentioned in the story? How do they produce such emotional sounds? Is this a new innovation created by the Carval family?"
Her thoughts wandered, trying to connect everything she had just read with the world she knew. The Carval family, famous for their innovations and inventions, might be involved in the creation of instruments she had never heard of. In her heart, she felt curious and hoped to learn more about these instruments someday.
"Would these instruments make music more beautiful? Or perhaps even create songs that are more touching?" Elena murmured as she closed the manga, her eyes gleaming with curiosity.
Though these instruments remained a mystery to her, Elena felt that music—especially music that could touch the heart, as described in Your Lie in April—would play a significant part in her dreams and aspirations. She wanted to learn more about how art could convey emotions and inspire others.
"I want to be like that," Elena whispered, gazing out the window with eyes full of determination. "Someone who can bring happiness to the world."
This desire grew stronger within her as she closed the manga, reflecting on every message within it. Out there, there were so many people who needed happiness and a zest for life, and Elena wanted to bring that joy to many people.
