"Hey, Sarah, all that parlor thing was nothing. Ugh, I heard John dumped you. Bad for you and good for him," Maddie shouted, running behind Sarah.
"Shut up, Maddie! I'm going to kill you! You don't know anything about being in love or in hate or any of those things. For you, it's just a fairy tale of wonders and charms!"
Maddie, unfazed, retorted, "Now you know the truth. Why don't you just move on?" She ended the conversation with a smirk and walked out for shopping.
Sarah was puzzled. Maddie's words stung but made sense. Maybe letting go and moving on was the right choice. After all, they were all rich bloods, and Sarah knew they wouldn't truly accept her even in the future. Staying with them seemed foolish.
"I think it's time to start a new chapter," Sarah thought.
"Not exactly," Leah interjected, tugging at her robes as she decided which college to enter—arts, music, definitely not fashion. "Okay, definitely arts."
Mr. Thompson, her guardian, asked, "Miss Leah, have you decided yet?"
"Oh yes! I feel so happy that I'm choosing arts," she replied.
"But Miss Leah," Mr. Thompson began cautiously, "do you think your parents will allow you to attend college publicly? Remember, even for school, they insisted on homeschooling. You had to fight for it, and you promised them you'd join your father's company after school. Your father controls international companies; they won't let you risk the family's reputation."
Leah sighed, realizing she had almost forgotten her promise. "Damn... but that's okay. I can still learn arts here. I'll hang my work on the wall once I master it," she laughed, jumping onto her bed. Mr. Thompson, who had always cared for Leah like his own daughter, was relieved to see her happy.
Later, Kevin said, "Leah, I think it's great you're choosing arts. We can arrange tutors for you, and you can become the greatest artist of all time. So, who's going to be your first subject?"
Leah smiled. "Maybe you, Rose," she teased.
Kevin hugged Rose tightly and said, "You're the right girl for me. I love you." Rose blushed, but Sam, who had once been engaged to Rose, was bitter. He didn't trust Kevin's intentions. "Kevin doesn't know how to handle Rose. If she gets upset, he'll throw her away."
Sarah, Sam's best friend, shared his doubts. "Something's fishy about Kevin wanting Rose when he knows she was your fiancée. If you're not going to act, I will. You and Rose belong together!"
Sam laughed. "No wonder you're my best friend. That's exactly what I was thinking. Let's fix this."
"The good old days," Sarah remarked, as the two reminisced about their past.
Meanwhile, John, overhearing their plan, joined in. "Sam, you need to get Rose back. She belongs to you. Kevin's motives are shady."
The trio planned their next move. They arranged a surprise for Rose—a music room and performing space that John had built for her next to his company. When Rose arrived, she was overwhelmed with emotion, hugging John tightly.
"You're the only one who truly understands me," she said.
Sam, watching silently, was hurt but determined. Kevin, however, burst into the scene, furious. "Rose, are you seriously clinging to anyone who gives you what you want?"
Sam, enraged, punched Kevin. "She's my wife, and John's her best friend. You have no business here."
Kevin, refusing to back down, challenged Sam to a basketball match to determine who deserved Rose. "Tomorrow at 8, at my house."
That night, Kevin found Rose unconscious on the floor. He regretted ever entering her life, feeling she was suffering because of him.
The next morning, the match took place. Sarah and John cheered for Sam, who was determined to win. When Rose awoke, she was surprised to see Sam, John, and Sarah waiting for her. Sam smiled at her, his love evident. Rose blushed, burying her face in her hands.
Sarah and John exchanged knowing glances. "Well, there's progress," Sarah remarked with a grin.
