Bab 15: Foolish Olivia

"Your grace, his grace had called for you." Olivia was stunned but before she could understand, a maid knocked the door and looked at Oriana with urgency. Oriana bit her lips as she looked at her sister.

"Remember! If you make one more mistake, you will regret it." she warned before walking toward the maid. They exchanged a few words and Oriana left the room with urgent steps.

Olivia shrugged. She felt exhausted after having this strange conversation with her sister. She returned to her room.

"She thinks fooling the second prince was that easy!" Olivia shook her head. She was sent to the second prince in her last life. But she had failed miserably. The man was uninterested in her. He had let her stay in the royal palace for two weeks just for the sake of Oriana. After that, he had asked her to leave untouched.

Oriana was still happy until she told her truth. Oriana had blamed her later that she didn't know seduction and tried to fix her with many nobles. But only that count was so interested in her. Later he had found a better wife too and forgotten about her.

Olivia sighed. It was not marriage that she wanted but survival first.

"Should I reach for him again? Oriana is busy with the duke. This would be the best time." her eyes sparkled with the thought.

"But he would either mark me as a pervert or a spy if I visited him two nights consequently." Olivia shook her head. It had been ages since she had been with the kids.

"Since Oriana was busy.." Olivia took out a story book and went to Abi's room. It was late at night, but Abi was not sleeping. She was standing near the window and staring at the sky.

"Abi.." Olviia whispers in the dark. The little girl flinched. But when she heard who it was, her eyes widened with joy and she ran toward Olivia.

She wrapped her little arms around her thighs and raised her head. "You are here! I have not seen the shooting star yet." Olivia's heart was stabbed. Guilt washed over her. After hugging the kids yesterday and leaving them alone, she did not get time to visit them.

She was so busy with changing the future. Improving her relationship with Damon and trying to persuade Oriana to mend her ways. She forgot, the most precious thing of her life were still these kids..

She could feel the shiver of the kid. She kneeled on the ground and wrapped her hands around Abi's cold body.

"Were you waiting for me?" Abi nodded. Her tiny hands touched the warm face of her aunt with a look of longing in her eyes.

"I was worried for you. Did your mother scold you?" she could not see the mark on Olivia's cheek in the cold. But she was sure her mother was furious that night. "You should not argue with her. Mother is always right. I am a sick and weak child." The girl's voice was so soft, so desperate, so painful. Olivia hugged her again.

"You are fine, Abi. you are not sick anymore. Sister just worries a lot about you because she loves you." Abi nodded in her arms. She relished the warm touch of her aunt. Leaning her head on her shoulders. Olivia swooped the little girl in her arms and carried her to the bed.

"You are so cold. You should not stay out of the bed at night. Okay?" the little girl nodded submissively but her eyes looked aggrieved.

"Abi.."

"I was worried for you. You did not return. Even Leo did not see you. Then I heard you took the cartridge.. What if.. What if.." what if you have left us? The girl did not continue but sobbed.

Olivia sighed looking at the worried girl. She laid beside the girl and wrapped her arms around her waist.

"Where will I go without you? Hmm? I only went to the market to bring this for you." She took out a new story book. The eyes of the girl widened with joy.

"Is this.."

"Yes, the Valentine story. You wanted to hear this right." the girl blushed and wrapped her arms around Olivia's neck.

All she wanted was Olivia in her life.

"Shall we bring your brother here? He must be worried too." Abi raised her head and looked at Olivia. She was tempted to sleep with her brother. This way, she would feel less lonely.

"But mother would be furious. She is already angry with you, Aunt. you should not test her patience." the girl warned but Olivia only grinned.

"Nah, sister gave me a gift tonight. She said that she loves me a lot. See.." Olivia raised the small necklace in her neck. The girl looked at it with shock. She touched the peridot in the necklace.

"It looked just like your eyes, it is a beautiful Aunt." this little child. She looked at the necklace longingly. But Olivia knew she did not want the necklace, but a gift from her mother. A little warmth she could feel for a long time and show to others, to herself at the dark nights and remind herself that she was not abandoned.

"And.. she had invited you for dinner tomorrow." Olivia added, and as expected, her eyes glimmered with joy again. She shook with ecstasy.

"You are lying. Right?" she whispered in a fearful voice.

"Not at all, I heard that she had brought a gift for you too. And wanted to give it to you herself." Abi did not reply. As if it would take her all night to digest those words.

"I will bring your brother first." Olivia patted Abi's head and stood up. Before her face could show the truth, she needed to leave this room. The moment she walked out, she slapped herself hard on her face.

"Oh foolish Olivia. How will you convince your sister to give a gift to Abi now?"
