Mad-Eye Moody (disguised by Barty Crouch Jr.) once mentioned in class that a young wizard's Killing Curse would at most cause a nosebleed for an adult wizard. Hagrid also noted that most large magical creatures possess strong magical resistance.
Thus, the Killing Curse isn't an absolute death sentence—it's only relatively lethal. If the target has extraordinary vitality and sufficient magical resistance, they can potentially withstand it.
Take dragons, for instance—no one has ever heard of a dragon being killed outright by a single Killing Curse. Subduing a dragon typically requires a well-coordinated effort: a quick Blinding Hex to incapacitate it, followed by at least a hundred adult wizards combining their Stunning Spells to bring it down.
If George were to transform into a giant in the Harry Potter world, ordinary dark wizards casting Killing Curses would be no threat to him. And if faced with an overwhelming number of dark wizards, he certainly wouldn't just stand there and take it.
...
By evening, as George was preparing to leave the library, he noticed a locked door in its depths.
"Levy, what's behind that door?" he asked, suspecting it might contain some incredible magic—like Hogwarts' restricted section of the library.
Earlier, Levy had mentioned that Fairy Tail's first guild master had created three ultimate light-based super-magic spells said to possess extraordinary power. However, she also noted that these were mere rumors, as she had never seen the guild master use them.
This piqued George's curiosity. Could those legendary super-magics be hidden behind that locked door?
Levy glanced at the door George pointed to and shook her head.
"I'm not sure, but I've heard Mira mention that only the guild master can enter. That door is sealed with complex and powerful enchantments. Once, Natsu tried sneaking in out of curiosity, but the seal knocked him out cold for two days."
George's suspicions grew stronger. 'When I'm stronger, I'll definitely find a way to peek inside,' he thought to himself.
Evening in the Guild
When George returned to the guild's main hall, it was nearly empty, except for Cana sipping her usual drink and Mira humming a tune as she cleaned up. Most of the guild members were either out on missions or had returned to their dorms.
Fairy Tail provided gender-specific dormitories for its members at a modest monthly rent. Those who preferred better accommodations could opt to rent private villas in the town.
"You're back! I saved you some dinner—come try it," Mira called out when she saw them entering. She set four plates on the table.
Aside from being the guild's signature beauty, Mira was also its logistical backbone. She managed the bar, handled finances, and took care of miscellaneous tasks, including preparing meals for those who stayed late.
"Thank you, Mira!" Levy exclaimed, leaping into Mira's arms before diving into her meal.
"Thanks, Mira!" chorused George, Jet, and Droy.
Before sitting to eat, George noticed the unfinished cleaning around the hall. With a thought, he waved his hands and incanted, "Scourgify!" Instantly, the dirt and stains on the tables and floors gathered and disposed themselves neatly into a trash bin. Scattered glasses and utensils cleaned themselves and flew back to the bar, perfectly arranged.
The entire hall was spotless within seconds.
"What kind of magic is that?" Mira asked, astonished by George's spellcasting.
"This is a household charm called 'Scourgify.' I picked it up during my travels. It's not for combat—just for cleaning," George explained, inventing a casual backstory. Then, he curled his tail around a spoon and started enjoying his dinner.
Since George intended to stay in the guild to study and research magic rather than embark on missions, he figured it wouldn't hurt to contribute in small ways. Helping clean the hall or repair damage would endear him to everyone while showcasing his usefulness.
For money? With his skill in crafting space-expanding artifacts, he could discreetly sell them in various towns, making more than enough without needing to take on missions.
"You're full of surprises, George," Mira said, reaching over to pet his head. George instinctively felt a surge of comfort but quickly controlled himself, dodging Mira's hand.
"Most of my magic isn't combat-oriented, so I'm nothing compared to the rest of you," he replied modestly.
"You don't need to fight, George," Jet interjected with a laugh. "Just focus on perfecting that repair spell. If anyone dares bully you, the entire guild will tear them apart—literally!"
The group burst into laughter, though the underlying sentiment was genuine. George was considered the guild's treasure, and anyone who harmed him would face the wrath of every member—especially Master Makarov.
...
After dinner, George returned to his inn to review the magical knowledge he had learned that day, focusing on his giant magic training. He started by practicing small-scale transformations, enlarging his fingers or toes. Using his smaller self as a guinea pig wasn't out of the question either.
The following days settled into a peaceful routine. George was always the first to arrive at the guild. He spent most of his time in the library or discussing magic with Makarov, occasionally helping repair or clean the hall. Evenings were often spent with Levy's team unless they were out on missions.
Gradually, George became more familiar with the guild's members and their quirks, uncovering details he hadn't known before. For instance, Natsu didn't simply use fire magic; he wielded Dragon Slayer Magic, a gift from the dragon who raised him. This magic allowed him to devour flames and amplify his power. Regular fire mages stood no chance against him.
Natsu's upbringing by a dragon explained his explosive temperament and unmatched resilience. George mused that if he ever crafted a wand in this world, using Natsu's hair as a core might be an excellent choice. 'Dragon-reared? A wand core with that level of potential could be fascinating,' he thought.
