It was only their first meeting, and they barely knew each other; pushing him to be on camera would be too forward.
Besides, Kamigawa had way more followers than she did. A cameo in her video would benefit her far more than him.
With that, Nyamu readjusted her approach and shifted the conversation to casual small talk.
Even if she couldn't get him to appear on screen this time, it didn't mean there wouldn't be future opportunities.
And as they say, there's no harm in building a good rapport.
Kamigawa, for his part, easily picked up on her sudden friendliness.
He was doing the same, after all.
She was a route character, and there was no better time than now to get closer.
So, their conversation was one of mutual interests.
"You look like you're still in high school, right?" Nyamu asked, steering the topic towards something she was curious about.
"Yes, I'm in my first year," Kamigawa replied openly.
"First year?" Nyamu repeated, taken aback.
"Is something wrong?"
"No, no… just surprised. I didn't expect you to be so young."
She could tell he was younger, but not this young.
First-year high school—that meant he was only around fifteen or sixteen.
Having close to 600,000 followers on Instagram at that age was… a little intimidating.
She couldn't help feeling a touch envious.
"Are you in college?" Kamigawa asked, voicing his own guess.
"That's right." Nyamu playfully teased him, "Need any tips about college life? It's super freeing—you can do whatever you want~"
"No, thanks. I've still got three years before then."
Kamigawa wasn't especially interested in college life; he just wanted to fast-forward to the end of high school.
As long as he could reach his single-life ending, whether or not he went to college was irrelevant.
He couldn't even see the point of it.
It wasn't like he needed the degree.
As for the whole "youthful college experience"?
To him, a life of endless partying sounded way more appealing.
"True, it's still a bit early for you."
Nyamu was merely looking for topics to keep the conversation going; since he wasn't interested, she quickly switched gears.
"Balancing school with managing an Instagram account must be exhausting, right?"
"Not really. It's pretty simple, honestly. I don't have to make videos."
That was the beauty of text-based reviews—they saved him a lot of time.
"Making videos is no walk in the park."
"True."
Nyamu thought back to her own video-making process and nodded in agreement.
Writing scripts, filming, editing—all of it took serious time.
Thinking about it only fueled her envy.
She worked so hard on her videos, but she only had 200,000 followers. Meanwhile, he was posting simple text reviews and had nearly 600,000.
It was downright unfair!
Was it just because he was so skilled at it?
The guy was unbelievable!
"Even so, make sure you keep up with your studies, or you'll be in danger of failing," Nyamu advised with genuine concern.
"My grades are fine, so no worries there."
He spoke with the confidence of someone who was at the top of his class.
"So, do you participate in any clubs? Or are you in the 'go home' club?" Nyamu kept the conversation flowing.
Kamigawa answered casually, "I'm not in any clubs, but I recently started a band."
"A band?"
Nyamu's ears perked up at the mention.
Wasn't this guy's "buff stack" getting a little ridiculous?
Handsome, good grades, a popular Instagram account, and now a band on top of it?
He sounded like the ultimate high school socialite, standing at the top of the food chain.
"I'm not in a role like guitarist or anything. I just handle the band's management."
Seeing her interest, Kamigawa didn't mind elaborating a bit.
"Seems like you're really into bands," Nyamu said, testing the waters.
With a huge Instagram following, he still found time to start a band—there had to be a deeper reason behind it.
Of course, unless he had some specific purpose.
"You could say that."
Kamigawa coolly acknowledged the lie.
"Speaking of bands, I've recently gotten interested in drumming."
This, Nyamu admitted without deceit.
She was genuinely curious about drumming, though not out of pure passion. She was considering her options for the future.
Sticking with makeup videos wasn't a long-term plan.
With the turnover rate for online personalities so high, she wasn't confident she'd stay relevant forever.
Who knew? A few years down the line, people might not even remember her.
She needed a backup.
Music was one of her considerations.
Music was simple—either it sounded good, or it didn't.
A genuinely good song could still be popular ten, twenty years later, with people covering it long after.
If she could create something like that, just the royalties alone would ensure she'd be set for life.
And even if she didn't reach that level, putting out a few popular songs could at least expand her following.
"Are you thinking of starting a band?"
Kamigawa immediately considered the possibility.
"No, I haven't even bought a drum kit yet. I'm only at the 'interested' stage." Nyamu quickly waved her hands, denying it. "I haven't committed to learning it yet."
She'd only mentioned drumming to find common ground, hoping to make a better impression.
"It's something to think over carefully. It'd be a shame if you lost interest halfway through."
Take himself, for example. Despite already being at a professional level on bass, he still practiced every day with Nagasaki Soyo—that was his dedication!
"Exactly," Nyamu agreed with a smile.
And so, they continued chatting for quite a while.
They didn't just talk about bands, but also shared experiences as influencers.
When she felt the moment was right, Nyamu smiled warmly and suggested, "Hey, would you like to exchange contacts? I feel like we really get along."
