The main palace hallways were dim, bathed only in the glow of the moonlight passing through the floor to ceiling windows.
Her bare feet made no sound against the cold marble floor as she jogged down in the six meter wide corridor, her heart pounding in anticipation as she move through the silent west wing toward the central hall.
The entrance to the underground palace was hidden in the small room behind the grand hall nestled between the two wings of the main palace. As she entered the small room, she immediately spotted a plain black three meters tall and two meters wide double door and she noticed that the feeling of something calling her was growing stronger.
Taking a deep breath, Yin Zhi pushed the door as she descended into the two meter wide stone staircase.
With each step she took, she could feel the pull growing stronger, more defined, as if it was guiding her into the depths of the undergone palace. This time, Yin Zhi already had an idea who might be calling her but she still needed to see and confirm it.
Finally, after descending a hundred steps, she reached the bottom of the staircase and saw a 50sqm room brightened by the candles in the walls and a double door embedded in one of the walls. It was twelve meters high and at least five meters wide, made from unknown black stone.
Seeing the burning candles that light up the room, Yin Zhi could not hide her surprise.
Because in the past, this room have always been dark and the candles that stays in the walls cannot be ignited no matter how they tried before, so they could only bring their own lamp whenever they descended here.
But this time, because of her hurry, she didn't bring anything and only relied on her sharp eyes to navigate the stairs.
Because of the bright room, she could finally see fully the huge door and she couldn't help but feel a pang of awe at what she saw.
Carved upon the black huge double door was the image of a majestic black winged creature with gold eyes. The creature is surrounded by the glowing seven elemental symbols of fire, water, earth, air, thunder, light, and darkness.
As Yin Zhi approached the door, she could see the intricate unrecognizable symbols carved into the doors. Yin Zhi paused for a moment, steadying her breath before pushing one of the massive doors open just enough for her to slip inside.
Behind the door is the outer hall of the underground palace, vast and grand.
Rows of towering shelves line the walls as they are filled with books, ancient scrolls, and relics left behind by the first Empress, the Founding Empress of the Huxia Country. Glowing large stones and surrounded by small ones are hung in the tall ceilings, nearly twenty meters above, casting a gentle glow over the room.
This place was the underground library, a treasure trove of knowledge and where secrets and the real histories of the world were stored.
Yin Zhi walked across the outer hall, as her steps lead her towards the half moon arch, a graceful structure marking the boundary between the outer and inner halls. As she crossed the archway, she felt the air shift around her.
The inner hall was far different than the outer hall. Books and ancient scrolls floated in the air freely in the vast garden like space. At the heart of this garden, a massive tree can be seen. Its trunk is nearly ten meters thick and its branches reach over twenty meters high, stretching toward the open blue sky.
Yin Zhi stepped against the soft green grass as her eyes narrowed as she scanned the base of the tree.
She remember clearly that there was a black creature sleeping under the tree, Whenever she visits this place before, the creature always had the same posture and she thought back then that it was already dead since she couldn't feel it breathing and heartbeat at all.
She clearly realizes just now that the creature in the huge door is the same as the creature sleeping under the tree. And now, the creature is gone in her usual spot. Instead, beneath the tree, a small palm size kitten sat. Its tail is raised high as it sways unhurriedly.
The kitten has black fur and golden eyes as it looks towards her unblinking.
Yin Zhi stopped a few meters away from the kitten, as she looked at it with complicated emotions. It seems like this kitten was the one calling her.
Before Yin Zhi could even speak, the kitten opened its mouth and spoke?
"Finally, You're here."
