The shrill ring of his phone interrupted his thoughts. Glancing at the screen, a sly smirk crept across his face as he answered.
"Did you see my present?"
"Of course I did, it was quite a lovely one. Although I must say…it looked rushed."
Logan stood up and went to the balcony, swirling his glass of whiskey.
"Rushed? Funny coming from you," Logan drawled, his tone dripping with mockery. "I thought you'd appreciate the efficiency. After all, I hear your company could use a little speed these days. Lagging behind isn't your style, is it?"
A man chuckled softly on the other end of the line; the sound rich with false warmth. "Oh, Logan, always so sharp. That little stunt of yours—while amusing—felt more like a cry for attention than a calculated move."
"By the way, your time is running up. I heard the other empires have arrived." The man added.
