Bab 57: Three Million!!!

After Bai Yi's words, a heavy silence hung in the air. Everyone in the room knew the immense value of the ancient god's flesh and blood. Yet, despite this, their gazes subconsciously drifted toward the right side of the third floor, where the Will family's seats were located.

The connection between Scarlet and the Will family was well-known, and no one dared to bid immediately.

Bai Yi raised an eyebrow and glanced at Kami. The magic in his words carried through the room, reaching everyone clearly: "No one wants to bid? If not, the controllable flesh and blood of the ancient god will go for a bargain—just one gold coin."

Kami scanned the room coldly, her gaze briefly meeting Bai Yi's. She then spoke, her voice icy: "One hundred thousand."

Bai Yi wasn't surprised. He smoothly continued, his eyes sweeping the room: "One hundred thousand gold coins. Is there a higher bid?"

The room fell into silence.

As Bai Yi prepared to speak again, a wealthy businessman in the corner suddenly shouted, "Cowards! Don't just sit there! If you want it, bid for it! Miss Kami is willing to buy it for only a hundred thousand? Fine, I'll go with three hundred thousand!"

Bai Yi raised an eyebrow, his smile never wavering as he glanced at Kami, whose expression darkened. He addressed her with mock amusement, "Three hundred thousand? Do you have that much to spare?"

"Five hundred thousand," came the calm response.

Bai Yi turned at the sudden bid. On the big screen to his left, the number "28" lit up in red, signaling the new bid of five hundred thousand.

"I've received five hundred thousand online," he announced.

"Eight hundred thousand!" Kami quickly interrupted, her eyes flickering with an unreadable expression.

Her cold, unflinching bid silenced the room.

"One million!" she declared, her tone commanding.

The number was impressive—equivalent to the price of four top-tier magic scrolls, enough to purchase all the essential knowledge in gold. It was a high price, and those who had considered bidding quickly silenced themselves, realizing the seriousness behind Kami's words.

Bai Yi remained unruffled, taking a small hammer from his pocket as he smiled, "One million at a time. Anyone else willing to go higher?"

"One million and one hundred thousand!" came a hoarse mechanical voice from the shadows. The wealthy businessmen wearing cloaks now made their move, their voices low to keep their identities hidden.

Bai Yi looked back at Kami, amusement flickering in his eyes. "One hundred and one—"

"One million and a half!" Kami interrupted, her voice even colder this time.

Her eyes narrowed as she scanned the room. The ancient god's flesh and blood held immense value, but Kami knew the risks. No matter how controllable it was made to seem, the flesh still retained the traits of its owner, characteristics that could not be erased. Few were willing to ignore this inherent danger.

Kami steeled herself and raised her voice: "Two million!"

Her announcement hung in the air, a bold statement of the Will family's strength. But the reaction was not as expected. Some murmured in confusion, others exchanged glances.

Bai Yi paused for a moment before speaking, his grin widening: "Two million for the first time, two million for the second time. Any higher bids?"

Before he could continue, a mechanical voice broke through the silence: "Two million and one hundred thousand."

A mechanical-sounding voice echoed from a cloaked figure. This time, the bidding was slower, but the response was immediate.

Kami's eyes flashed with growing irritation, but she kept her composure. "Two million and a half!" she declared, her tone sharper.

"No hesitation," another mechanical voice sounded: "Two million, seven hundred thousand."

Bai Yi paused again, his eyes shifting to the figure in the back. The bidding had become more intense now. The first and third bids had been Sabo's people, but he was unsure about the others. It seemed like more and more factions were showing interest, including one that was not part of the traditional aristocracy.

Kami's gaze turned colder, her patience thinning. "Three million! This is my final offer."

Bai Yi thought for a moment but remained silent.

"Three million," Kami repeated with finality.

The room's tension increased. Just as it seemed the price might settle, a sudden mechanical cough echoed through the hall. Everyone turned to see the cloaked figure in the corner—an old man—who had evidently spoken to remind Bai Yi to end the auction.

Bai Yi smiled, allowing three seconds of silence to pass. When no more bids came, he spoke calmly, "Three million for the first time, three million for the second time... If no one else bids, three million once—"

He slammed his small hammer onto the table, "Deal!"

Immediately, a loud cough broke the silence. A man in a black robe, with a pale face, seemed to have just recovered from choking. His presence was brief but noticeable, and everyone knew the significance.

Kami's icy gaze swept over him, then turned toward the room where the city lord sat. She didn't say a word but instead motioned for her people to follow her as they left, a Dawn Badge with glittering gems flying toward Bai Yi as a symbol of the transaction's completion.

Bai Yi looked at the retreating figures, a faint smile curling on his lips. He turned back to the crowd, his demeanor unchanged.

"This has been a good start. The first lot has hit three million, confirming the auction's value. Let's move on to the next lot. Please direct your attention to the big screen."

The screen flickered to life, showcasing a column of giant steel snakes, each several hundred meters long, churning through vast mountains and forests. Black smoke billowed from their exhausts, signaling their powerful engines.

"This," Bai Yi announced, his voice clear and full of pride, "is the Steam Train. I'm sure many of you saw it in the trailer. Let me explain its benefits."

He paused as images of the train flashed on the screen. "The materials are standard, making it affordable. Even non-professionals can operate it. From laying tracks to actual operation, everything can be managed by the general public."

Bai Yi's smile widened, the passion in his eyes evident. "With this railway, we'll be able to reach speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour. Each carriage can carry 100 tons of cargo. This will revolutionize the transportation of goods, troops, and resources across the entire federation."

He held up the Dawn Badge, now in his hands, the smile on his face growing more genuine.

"As usual, the starting price is one gold coin."

He raised the small hammer again. "Let the bidding begin."
