Hera gave birth to four children in the span of a year. The two eldest were Hebe, Ares, Eileithyia, and Hephaestus. Ten years after when they were mature enough I pulled the four aside and offered them all the same chance to join the Olympian council. Hebe and Eileithyia both refused while Ares and Hephestus both wanted to join.
Now let me say this first about Hephestus as he was born with two parents and wasn't thrown off the side of the mountain the young god was born withought any problems. Though he still loved to create things and would spend hours with Brontus forging thing. Steropes, and Arges had left to work in the forges of Poseidon leaving Brontus quite lonly so he welcomed the help and taught the young god everything that he knew. I had no worries about him at all, but his older bother was a whole other story.
The young god was an absolute nightmare—he was brash, loud, and unrelenting in his desire to prove himself. His arrogance was as sharp as a blade, and his temper was nothing short of volcanic. His father, Aeolus had tried hard to teach his son respect but he had no choice to come to me and "teaching him discipline," but every time Ares set foot in the Underworld, he would find a way to push my buttons. His unchecked aggression clashed with my patience. I could see it even then—this boy, full of fire, craving power and control, but utterly lacking in focus. I was going to make sure that he did not grow up to become some monster who craved war.
He needed to be molded. He needed structure. So I ordered Michael and Raquel to train him, and I was alittle worried as they tend to be alittle rough.
<---------->
The first day of training was a disaster.
Ares had charged into the training grounds, his usual cocky smile plastered on his face. "You think you can teach me anything?" he sneered, the arrogance practically radiating off him. "I'm Ares, the future god of war."
Michael, towering over him, gripped his sword tightly, eyes narrowing. "We don't don't see any god here, just an arrogant brat that needs to be broken and trained to be a proper soldier."
Ares scoffed, but when the Oni raised his sword in a wide arc, the boy's bravado faltered. Michael's strikes were quick, precise, and powerful—he didn't waste words. He just attacked, if Ares was going to survive he will need to learn how to fight back and control his anger.
I watched from the shadows, observing their battle. The plan was simple. Michael and Raquel would train Ares and make him into a proper god. Raquel qould train him to control his anger and arrogance and Michael would teach him how to control his pride.
After hours of battle, Ares finally crumpled to the ground, panting, sweat dripping from his brow. His chest heaved as he tried to catch his breath. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" Ares gasped. "Are you trying to kill me?"
Raquel stepped forward from the sidelines, her piercing violet eyes studying him carefully. "Yes we are, you have no control-."
Ares shot her a glare. "Control? I don't need control. I need victory."
Raquel shook her head, her raven-black hair glinting in the dim light. "You'll never win a battle if you can't control your rage. You can't fight a war with your emotions, boy."
I had seen enough and left to work on some other things. When Ares matures he is to join Olympus. If he is ready than I shall allow it if not than he will need to prove his worth to a throne.
<---------------->
The throne room of Olympus was abuzz with excitement. A new god was about to be crowned into the throne of Olympus. We allowed a hundred to be inside the throneroom to watch. The Fates stood to the right next to Brontus who held a clothed item in his hands. I noticed that Hera and aeolus looked really nervous and exited, it was a big day to see their son become part of the Olympians.
I watched with quiet interest as the doors to the throne room slowly creaked open, a hush falling across the room. The gods turned as one, all eyes falling on Ares and Hephestus as they strode forward, their footfalls echoing through the chamber. While Ares wore the full ceremonial armor, carrying a spartan helmet rested his arm, Hephestus wore simple royal robes that didn't hide his lean muscular frame from the years working in the forges. His long curly black hair was braided and styled for the ceremony. Hera must have forced him to clean up, usually he is covered in grease and stains.
Ares had always been... Ares. Fiery, passionate, and at times reckless. But I have watched him grow and he has been doing quite well and I knew that he was ready. Though nobody new my choice and it was up to me as the two young gods bowed and kneeled in the middle of the throneroom as everyone at me to see what my answer will be, holding their breathes.
I nodded and a collective sigh of relieve was heard as Hera cried tears of joy holding her husbands hand tightly.
The Fates stepped forward, their ancient voices low but clear as they approached Ares. "Ares, you stand before Olympus today to join their ranks. The King of the Gods has accepted you into the Pantheon. We the Fates shall grant you your domains. Hail, Ares the god of War, Combat, Heroes and Honor."
"Hail!" Everyone repeated as Ares glowed red. He stood his back straight as he thanked them. His hands were steady though I could see that his knees were shaking a bit.
Brontes, moved forward, with a flourish, he pulled it away to reveal a beautifully crafted golden spear, the polearm was about 12 or 14 feet in length with a long 20 inch blade A long red cloth was wrapped around the top and dangling to the side.
Ares's eyes gleamed as he approached the spear and took it. "Thank you," he said, his voice gruff but sincere. "This will serve me well."
They moved to Hephestus next. "Hephestus, you stand before Olympus today to join their ranks. The King of the Gods has accepted you into the Pantheon. We the Fates shall grant you your domains. Hail, Hephestus the god of the Forge, Inventions, Blacksmithing and Crafts ."
"Hail!" Everyone repeated again as Hephestus glowed red as he stood and thanked the three.
Brontus then took out a second wrapped item and revealed a beautiful sledgehammer. "Made this alittle extra special, you desrve it kid." Hephestus thanked him and took the hammer feeling it's weight.
I stood as the gods and goddesses around the room erupted into applause. "Welcome to Olympus, Ares and Hephestus" I said, my voice resonating through the chamber as I stepped forward, extending my hand toward them.
Ares met my gaze, his jaw tightening for a moment before he offered a small smile. "Thank you, Uncle. I will do my duty. And I will make Olympus proud."
I watched as they moved to their new seat, their thrones were placed next to their father, Aeolus. I could see the pride in his parents' eyes. Hera congratulated her sons as Aeolus told them how proud he was of them. Their sisters also congratulated them. Hebe and Eileithyia had both got their domains alot earlier than their brothers. Hebe became the goddess of youth and was the cupbearer, while her sister Eileithyia the goddess of childbirth.
