Bab 45: Shadows and Secrets

As Leo left the Academy grounds, a murmur of rumors began to ripple through the staff and students. Whispers of someone having called to warn about the dangers in the Southern Wildlands floated through the air, but the tale carried a darker twist—a guard had allegedly dismissed the call as unimportant. 

Garfield, hearing of this negligence, furrowed his brows in irritation. He turned to his personal assistant, a sharp-eyed woman named Elara, who stood silently at his side. "Elara, find out who was on duty and confirm if this rumor has any truth to it. I want a detailed report on my desk by the end of the day," he ordered, his voice steely. 

"Understood, Principal," Elara replied with a curt nod, already jotting down notes. 

"Also," Garfield added, his tone softening slightly, "Has the rescue team reached the location yet?" 

"Not yet, but they're close," Elara informed him, glancing at the communication crystal in her hand.
