Bab 30: Posting on Barter Interface
"Get out." Given that Lei Qian was kind enough to let her have this car, Bai Meiyue was willing to drop him off at the parking lot of his company.
Lei Qian was more than willing. Though Bai Meiyue was really cute, the way she drove a car was similar to a punk who told his parents that either he would return home or his corpse. It was too thrilling!
He somehow managed to get out of the car with wiggly legs; Lu Yu was in an even worse situation as he slumped down on the gravel floor without even trying to move. His hands were on his mouth and he looked like he was about to faint.
Bai Meiyue shot him a look of pure disdain. This man was really too fussy; if he didn't change, then he would definitely be the first to die once the doomsday arrived.
Lei Qian was also embarrassed because of Lu Yu but he didn't pay attention to him. Taking advantage of the fact that Bai Meiyue did not drive away at once, he said to her, "Miss Bai, there is something that I wanted to say to you."
"Say it."
"I heard from your boss that he had blocked all your escape routes. The smaller companies will definitely not dare to take you but I have a friend who owns an entertainment company. If you want, then I can convince him to take you in his company; you can go and audition at his company this weekend."
Hearing his words, Bai Meiyue curled her lips and mocked, "Who wants to go back there? If he wants to block me, then let him block. See if I care. And if you want to help me, then just give me money; I don't care about anything else."
She really wanted to see how Lei Qian would be able to say these same words once the apocalypse was here. Work hard? Join a company? Haha. What was the point? Once the apocalypse starts, money will become nothing but useless bits of paper. The money that everyone was working so hard for and saving so properly, it was useless!
Lei Qian was shocked when he heard Bai Meiyue refuse so vehemently. Others were rushing to join the entertainment company that his friend owned but Bai Meiyue was a rare specimen; she refused without even thinking for a day.
At the same time he felt uncomfortable in his heart. He felt like the reason Bai Meiyue was acting like this was because of him. He was the one who ruined her to the point where she gave up on herself and thought that there was nothing left to live for. It was all his fault!
He was really a bastard.
"I will be waiting for the money then; make sure to send it to me," said Bai Meiyue before she raised her foot, pressed the accelerator, and drove away.
The speed with which she ran away was so fast that Lei Qian wondered if this woman was worried that he would take it back. Was he that unworthy in her eyes? He clearly said that she could have it, so she could at least say thank you to him.
Lu Yu dry heaved behind him as he gasped, "Demon. That woman is a demon; how can you even like her?"
"Shut up!"
On the other hand, Bai Meiyue, who got her hands on such a good car, was obviously in a good mood. She drove around the city and noted down the gas stations before heading over to the farmers' market, where she bought all kinds of vegetables as well as their seeds.
From leafy vegetables like spinach and kale to pumpkins and potatoes, Bai Meiyue continued to buy them. She asked the shopkeepers to deliver these goods to her home.
Though she had no space, she had a large ice house, which was enough to store these vegetables for now.
She also looked for a shop that sold greenhouse construction materials and bought everything that was needed before returning home. Once she was done, Bai Meiyue returned home and entered the Barter System interface.
As soon as she opened the interface, she saw that many people were already exchanging goods with one another. Bai Meiyue thought about it before looking around in the house; she didn't have a lot of rare things but she did have a few antiques that she had brought along. with her, which were gifted to her by some of her sponsors when she was working.
Of course, these people sent these gifts to her because they wanted to sleep with her. But Bai Meiyue never agreed, nor did she refuse their advances, because her father stopped her by telling her that she would be offending these people and ruining his good deeds.
Because of this, she was called the vixen of the entertainment industry, as her father would fix dinner or auction dates with just about anyone.
Bai Meiyue thought about it before picking up a jade hairpin, which was really pretty. Though it was really expensive and good looking, Bai Meiyue had never once worn it because she knew the consequences of it.
She took out the hairpin from the box, which was yet to be organised in the shelves and then, without wasting her time, posted a notification.
[Want to buy a space ring or space dimension. Anything that would let me store things without spoiling. In exchange I am willing to hand over this hairpin.]
She posted a picture of the jade hairpin under the notification.
Bai Meiyue didn't think that it was a losing bid, as the hairpin was made of Emperor's jade and that too 200 years old.
If anything it could be said that she might be on the losing end. But what was she supposed to do? Rather than losing her life by starvation, Bai Meiyue would prefer losing every bit of her wealth in exchange for goods.
Because in the apocalypse, food was not just a necessity but the very means of survival.
