I'm already in the helicopter by the time the storm abates by daybreak, flying towards the sea. The wind hasn't died down completely though, and the pilot struggles to keep the craft righted. I don't care. All I want is to get to the yacht.
There hadn't been a way to reach her last night. Otherwise, I would have gone. But the wind had been too strong, too sudden to risk a speedboat or a helicopter. I hadn't even been able to reach her over the phone to reassure her because we had lost service early in the storm.
