Bab 40: A Different Life

Asher and Lucy walked through the dim streets, surrounded by the quiet hum of the night.

For him, it felt surreal to stroll down these sidewalks he had once taken to work, now accompanied by a demon while his pulse remained cold.

They reached the alley where he had died. Asher paused, staring down the narrow, dimly lit path.

The place looked just as he remembered: cracked concrete, graffiti smeared across the walls, and trash scattered near the bins.

He had expected to see traces of his dry blood, but it seemed that it had already been cleaned away.

This was the spot where everything had ended.

Lucy slowed, noticing his long pause. Her gaze followed his, narrowing slightly. She could sense he was lost in thought about the past.

"Are you sad?" she asked, her voice softer than usual, almost curious.

Asher shrugged it off.
