Bab 1: Welcome to Mystic Falls

Under the light of the moon, a boy slowly approached the small town located in Virginia.

His steps were slow, sometimes staggering, as if adjusting to something before resuming his walking.

At some point, after what seemed a few long hours, he finally passed through the entrance of the town, giving the town's entrance sign a glance before continuing, the words on it repeating in his mind.

Welcome to Mystic Falls

 Virginia

Walking into the town, the boy marveled at the place. His eyes shone every time he looked at a different building. Not because of the old architecture or the historical sentiment of the town, but because he knew of the histories which took place in these buildings or the earth which they were built on. From the rise of entire species to the downfall of villains.

After crossing the town from one edge to another, the boy continued walking until he rrived before a huge pair of gates at the external area of the town, a little far from everything but within the town's perimeters.

This place really is rich. More than what was shown in the series. He thought before jumping the metal gates, easily crossing its height of over two meters before landing on the other side without making a single noise.

Walking towards the front door, crossing the long paved road between the gate and the entrance of the building, the boy did a little trick with his mind before the door opened to him in the most silence possible.

Entering the building, the door closed behind him before it apparently locked itself. All of this without making a single noise so as not to alert the residents of this place. After all, their senses were better than any human's.

Inside the building, every step taken by the boy seemed extremely slow. But this time, not to alert the residents, but to experience every single second of this place. Being where he was right now made the young man enthusiastic and overjoyed, with his eyes looking at every little thing as he walked through the corridors. These sentiments were much more intensified when he passed through an entrance to a large room, with a small golden plate with a few words written in it over the entrance.

In memory of Stefan Salvatore

In the library, walking by the bookshelves, the boy let his fingers touch the cover of the books, feeling their history and age through the touch. But from sight alone it was possible to say library's collection was a rather old one

Choosing one book from one of the bookshelves, the boy walked to one of the armchairs in the room and found himself comfortable before opening the book and deciding to read it slowly, not finding the need to rush in this perfect environment he would find disturbed in the morning when the residents of the school found the never seen boy in the studying room.

[Scene Break]

Looking over one of the windows in the room, the boy could see the sky getting a little brighter as the sun rose from the east, indicating the arrival of another day.

And at this exact time, the boy could hear the sound of footsteps approaching him, or more exactly the room he was in.

The footsteps were heavy and loud, most probably a male and one who had not gotten ridden of his sleepiness after waking up, probably due to the faintest smell of alcohol coming from him. Not to mention the sentiment of frustration he exhaled.

When the man passed nearby the room, the boy waved his hand. "Good Morning."

"Good Morning…" The man said, stretching the last word a lot more than necessary whilst going to some other place in the building. That is, he was going somewhere before stepping back and looking at the boy. "Hm, who are you?"

"Dr. Saltzman, I am one of your students."

"Hm, no. I know every single one of my students. I would definitely recognize you if you were one." Said the man, his sleepiness disappearing much faster than before. "So, I will ask again. Who are you?"

"A boy who can use Magic. And since I am a little too old to enroll at Hogwarts, I decided to join your school. Great, right?" Replied the young man, sincerity in his voice.

"Right… So, might you tell me you know of my name and how you found out about us?" He asked, putting a lot emphasis on the 'us'.

"Well, you know. A whisper here, a hint there and here I am."

"That doesn't answer my question."

"And you trying to approach the gun hidden behind the shelf will not help." The young man said, revealing a little smile when the man was caught off-guard by the boy knowing what he was doing.

"And why don't you try to stop me?" The man said by stretching his hand behind the shelf before pulling out the gun, but not pointing it at the boy.

"Well, I recently lost the fear of guns. At least the normal ones. So why bother to stop you from approaching the thing that would give you the most relief when having this conversation."

"I would be much more relieved if you were sincere with me." The man approached, probably to have a better chance if anything happens.

"I am being sincere. I mean, you guys are the only school that teaches magic that I know." He lied, knowing that there were other options. "And I quite like the place, I can tell this is a place with a lot of history and is quite peaceful, so why not try to enroll?"

"Sorry if I can't believe you totally. When you go through what I went through, it's quite difficult to trust the suddenly appearing mysterious boy who doesn't ever flinch when seeing a gun." He said, letting out a light exhale when remembering all the crazy things in his life.

To it, the boy only nodded. "So, what do you want to do?"

"Follow me to my office. We'll talk there. I will see if you are trustworthy after a better conversation."

"Well, it seems fair enough." Said the boy, closing the book before following the man.

[Scene Break]

It's been a few minutes since the boy has been sitting in the Headmaster's office.

After leaving him here, Alaric Saltzman has been gone for almost half an hour, and by this time the school was getting louder as the teachers and students were waking up. And, well, supernatural teenagers were far from being a quiet bunch.

Finally, after waiting so long, Alaric Saltzman returned to his office. Now completely suited up and not reeking of alcohol, but tired nonetheless, although he hid it quite well.

"Sorry for the wait." He said.

"No rush." The boy replied. "So, what do you want to talk about?"

"I would like to ask some questions first, if you don't mind." He said, putting a small crystal ball on the table.

Taking a look at the sphere, John returned his glare to the man. "Ask away."

"Name?"

"John Neo."

"A Fan of Matrix?" He asked, looking at the ball going blue.

"Never watched. It's just my name. Nothing more nothing less." The boy replied.

"Age?"

"Recently turned 16."

"Do you have a family or any relatives?"

"None that I know their current location." He replied, the sphere going blue again.

"Okay…" The man put his elbows on the table, putting a more thoughtful expression. "How did you know my name? Why did you come to this school? How did you come to learn of us?"

"I will answer in that order. First, a photograph of you in the entrance hall with your name right below." He replied, the crystal sphere going blue. "I came to this school to learn Magic and try to end high school if possible. You know, a little bit of normality among the craziness of the world." It went blue again. "Unfortunately, I can't tell you from where I learned about you. That's something I can't tell."

"Why?"

"It's a secret of mine." John replied.

"Do you expect me to trust you when you just invaded my school?" Alaric asked with a slight frown.

"Well, it was that or waiting outside the entire night." John replied with a chuckle. But his mood changed when saying the following words. "But let me assure you, I mean no harm to your school, its students or the staff." He said with clear sincerity in his voice.

And to his answer, the crystal sphere shone with a bright blue light again, making the headmaster stare at it for a long time.

A looming silence lasted for a good long minute in the room, with it ending with Alaric retreating to let his back rest on the chair.

"Do you have any documents?" He suddenly asked.

"Nothing. Let's say I legally don't exist." John said.

"This will be a problem." Alaric said, his caution not increasing due to the boy not having a single document on him. It would not be the first time something like this happened in the supernatural world. Mist vampires didn't have one, too secluded packs also didn't live by the world's laws and the same applied to some covens. "This might make the time you need to wait to enroll at the school longer."

"Will you accept me?" John asked.

"Yes." He replied. "You are not the first kid who appeared here with a secret, boy. I am just giving you the benefit of the doubt."

Hearing it, John opened a small satisfied smile. "Thanks. I can wait until you prepare everything."

"Can you wait outside as I make a call?" Alaric asked.

"Sure. Take your time." John said, rising up from his seat before leaving the room.

At the other side of the door, John regulated his senses to give the man a little bit of privacy. His senses and abilities were sincerely a violation of personal space in his opinion.

Whilst waiting, the boy noticed someone approaching. And by looking up, he saw a short brunette girl.

The girl was cute. She had shoulder-length black hair parted in the middle, light brown eyes with a soft touch and her small lips were partially open, giving view to her white teeth, which gave her a certain charm to herself. Her cheeks seemed good to hold too, with John resisting the urge to try it.

Aa for the girl, when looking at the unknown boy outside the door of her father's office, the headmaster, the girl's curiosity was picked up.

"Hello?"

"Hi." Replied John.

"Are you a new student?" She asked.

"Well, it seems so." He replied with a smile.

When the girl was about to question the boy some more, another one arrived.

She had similar facial features to the other girl, but at the same time they had many differences. She was tall, at least 10 centimeters more than the other girl. She was very slim, with long blond hair that reached half of her back and gray blue eyes.

"Josie, why are you always so-!" When seeing the boy, the blonde changed her demeanor instantly. "Hello."

"Hi." The boy replied again.

"What is a handsome like you doing here?" She asked in a bold way, approaching John.

If not for his great control over his physical body, John would have made a face that would be described as "really?"

"Waiting for a definite answer from Headmaster Saltzman for my enrollment at the school." He replied.

"Oh my, why didn't you say it earlier?" She said, as if they just didn't have a conversation with less than 10 exchanges of words. "The Headmaster is our father. Wait here, we will talk to him. Come on, Josie." Before the brunette could say anything she was dragged into the room by her sister, with the blonde not caring about the glare sent by her father as they entered the office.

Still outside of the room, with nothing to do, John started to lightly tap his feet on the floor, trying to imitate a music's rhythm.

While on it, it didn't take a long time for another student to appear. This time, a chocolate-skin black-haired girl with a devilish smile and piercing eyes. She had this cool and devilish demeanor that attracted others.

"Hello." She said.

"Hi." For some reason I think it's strange how many 'hi's I said this morning. John thought.

"By any chance did you see a puppy-eyed brunette with this height." She gestured with her hand. "Followed by a taller annoying blonde?"

"Inside." John replied, pointing his right index finger at the door.

"Thanks." She said, but not entering the room, just quietly leaving the corridor with a smile. It seemed like a villain plotting their next plan.

Okay, Josie Saltzman, Lizzie Saltzman and now Penelope Park. Will the main one appear right now for me to say 'hi' too? John thought, thinking of this more as a joke to himself than anything.

A few minutes later, the door to the office opened once again, revealing the three's expressions. The twins obviously had a more neutral face than when they entered, they obviously didn't achieve what they wished wholly. As for Alaric, he had a more serious face.

"John, I will have to ask you some other questions. But before that, you will have to wait a little as I get a little helping hand." Alaric said, opening the door for him to enter before closing it and going away, with the twins looking at him until the door was closed.

I wonder what he will ask. Now that I think, he didn't ask me once to reveal if I am truly able to use magic. Hm, is there any chance someone normal ever discovered this place and tried to enroll even as a normal person? One thing to look at a later date. John thought finding it funny if a normal human ever got to invade this place.

Whilst idly waiting for the Headmaster, John paced around the office, grabbing one of the books in the many bookshelves around before deciding to read it while standing.

After more than a few minutes waiting, the boy heard two people approaching the room. One making heavy noises, obviously Alaric Saltzman. And another one more delicate and light, probably a girl.

When the door was opened by Alaric, John could see who the girl was, who was two steps behind the man.

Her brunette hair flowed straight before forming loose waves that replicated perfectness along the natural shine it had. Her curves seemed out of the world, as if God had taken back the role of painter from nature and personally painted her with his knowledge beyond creation. And then she had those striking blue eyes that seemed to reflect the greatness of the moon in ancient times with its full phase. And even with all these words said, the boy found it difficult to find more words to describe the magnificence of her beauty.

And the girl, when stepping into the room, noticed the look the boy had in his eyes when looking at her, getting a little bit of her attention as she looked into him.

Looking back and forth, Alaric decided to introduce them, breaking them from the short, but seemingly long, and good silence that had lasted between the two of them.

"John, meet one of my students, Hope Mikaelson. Hope, this is John Neo."

"Hello." This time, the boy initiated the greetings.

"Hi." And she replied, curiosity found in her tone.
