Bab 26: Culprit and possible danger at Hogwarts(26)

Chapter 26

Minerva McGonagall was the first to notice it—a dark smear on the ground, not far from where they stood. It was dried blood, and near it, the ground was disturbed, as though something massive had been dragged or removed from the chamber. "Merlin's beard," she whispered, her face pale beneath her usually stern expression. "Something—no, someone—killed it."

Severus Snape stood nearby, his black cloak billowing slightly in the damp air, eyes narrowed as he surveyed the evidence. He knelt next to the blood, brushing his fingers just over the surface without touching it. "The Basilisk is dead." His voice was soft but carried the weight of his disbelief. "This is its blood. But... how?"

Lockhart, standing a few steps behind the others, puffed out his chest, adjusting his flamboyant robes and flashing a toothy grin. "Well, I'm sure it was no great feat! If I had been down here, I'd have dispatched the creature in no time." He waved his hand dismissively at the carnage, stepping closer as though inspecting a minor inconvenience.

Dumbledore said nothing at first, his blue eyes gleaming with a mixture of curiosity and concern. He approached the large smear of blood and knelt beside Snape, his long fingers gently tracing the dried remnants on the stone floor. "This creature," he began softly, almost to himself, "was ancient... immensely powerful. To kill it... required strength—and knowledge."

Filius Flitwick, the diminutive Charms professor, hovered nearby, his brow furrowed as he examined the broken stone where the Basilisk had clearly been taken apart. "It would have taken someone very skilled. This is no ordinary wound. Whoever did this must have been prepared. Very prepared."

Snape rose to his full height, his face hardening into a mask of suspicion. "Prepared is an understatement." His voice was a low, dangerous hiss. "This wasn't a random act. Whoever killed the Basilisk knew exactly what they were doing. And more concerning is that they removed the body. The power one could wield with such materials..."

McGonagall's face tightened at the implication. "The Basilisk's body. Whoever took it could use it for the Darkest of magic." She cast a glance at Dumbledore, her voice dropping. "Albus, if this person turns against Hogwarts—"

"I'm well aware of the danger, Minerva." Dumbledore's tone remained calm, but his gaze swept the chamber, as if looking for clues, piecing together the events. "There is more at stake here than we might realize."

Pomona Sprout, her usual cheeriness absent, nervously twisted the sleeves of her robes. "It's disturbing to think that anyone in the school could have done this. If they can kill a Basilisk... then no one is safe. The students—"

"Are in grave danger, indeed," Snape interrupted, his dark eyes narrowing further. "And if the one responsible isn't found... who knows what they might do next? They've already butchered the most dangerous creature in this school."

Lockhart, clearly itching to reclaim the spotlight, cleared his throat loudly. "Ah, but it's entirely possible, you see, that they were simply... lucky!" He beamed around the group, clearly oblivious to their growing tension. "I mean, Basilisks are fearsome, no doubt, but with a little skill, a bit of charm, one can easily subdue such a beast. Had I been here—"

"Had you been here," Snape said icily, his tone dripping with disdain, "we would be recovering two bodies instead of just one."

Lockhart flushed slightly but pressed on, undeterred. "Well! I appreciate your vote of confidence, Severus, but I assure you, I've faced worse. You all remember the tale of the Banshee in Bandon? The one I vanquished single-handedly?"

"Do be quiet, Gilderoy," McGonagall snapped, her patience wearing thin.

Dumbledore's eyes twinkled for a brief moment before he grew serious again, standing up and looking toward the entrance. "The person who did this is highly skilled. But they are not invincible." He paused, his voice growing quieter, though still laced with authority. "We must find them before they strike again."

Flitwick, still frowning at the scene, shook his head. "To take down a creature of that size... it couldn't have been a student, could it?"

Dumbledore glanced at him. "One would think not, but Hogwarts has always attracted unusual talent. We cannot rule out the possibility of someone within these walls being responsible."

Snape's eyes flickered briefly toward Lockhart, and then back to the bloodstained floor. His voice was dangerously low. "Whoever it was... they are dangerous, perhaps more dangerous than the Basilisk itself. If they can turn that power against the school..." He left the thought hanging in the air, but everyone felt the weight of his words. Lockhart, still preening, seemed oblivious to the true gravity of the situation. "Well, if they need a hero, they'll know where to find me!" he exclaimed with a flourish, earning a round of exasperated sighs from the others.

Dumbledore, however, ignored Lockhart's boasting and turned to face his colleagues. His expression was grave. "We will need to be vigilant. Whoever did this may have more sinister plans in mind. And if they turn their attention toward the students... we may be facing a threat unlike any we've encountered before." He glanced down at the bloodstained stone one last time before quietly adding, "And I fear this is only the beginning." as they then left the chamber of secrets.

Meanwhile, the culprit was safe, tucked away in his suitcase. He was currently in the midst of creating potions using the materials he got from the basilisk, and he succeeded in creating the potions.

[Name: Basilisk's Arcane Elixir]

[Grade: High grade]

[Description:] This magic-enhancing potion boosts the user's arcane abilities by 500%. Created using basilisk blood, unicorn hair, and moonstone essence, the elixir fortifies the drinker's magical core, allowing for stronger and more potent spellcasting. The effects are long-lasting but not permanent, designed to boost a witch or wizard's magical potential during intense combat or spellcrafting.

Bab 27: Extending Lifespan and the duel(chapter 27)

Chapter 26

A/N I did not know that wizards live longer so

Deactivating his mana, Gray then bottled the potions, which he then looked at its description, making him smile. "Another perfectly high-grade potion; my luck is on a roll," he chuckled to himself as he placed the potion among three other potions made from the basilisk materials. One of them increased his endurance, using the basilisk heartstrings as the main material.

another instantly killed whoever drank it, made using the basilisk's eyes as the main material; another was a deadly poison made using the basilisk venom as the main material. Then there was the newly made magic-enhancing potion, using the basilisk blood and unicorn hair, which he got from the dead unicorn in his first year at Hogwarts. However, there was a fifth potion, which was a permanent potion and the best of the batch.

[Name: Eternal Serpent's Draught]

[Grade: High grade]

[Description:] A permanent longevity potion crafted using basilisk scales, gillyweed, dittany, and asphodel. This draught increases the drinker's lifespan by enhancing cellular regeneration and extending vitality by 500%. While the potion's effects are gradual, they become permanent over time, granting the user extended years of health and vitality.

[Deterioration-Rate: 100%]

That is right, a longevity potion, which made sense since the basilisk is a long-lived creature. He immediately consumed this potion, which extended his lifespan by five times, and since normal humans lived up to 100 years, Gray could now officially live up to 1,000 years. This, of course, made Gray very, very happy, to the point where, as a celebration of his longevity, he went an entire week without sleep, practicing Occlumency and studying the notebook belonging to a 16-year-old named Tom Riddle. And boy, was this kid getting on Gray's nerves, to the point where Gray would occasionally heat up the cover of the notebook to just keep him from being annoying. It turns out Tom controlled the basilisk and was, of course, a Slytherin. He shared the same mindset as the other Slytherins, which was the supremacy of the pureblood.

Tom, of course, tried to possess Gray, which didn't work and only fueled Gray to further study him. When Gray was done with him, he had to try and use all the basilisk materials as well as the plants and other materials that where on the chamber of secrets which he emptied, to create more potions, which he now finished. "Alright, time to leave," he thought as he got out of the suitcase and headed to the Great Hall, just in time to come up onto a stage he didn't want to.

Professor Lockhart strutted confidently onto the stage in the middle of the Great Hall, clapping his hands to gather the students' attention. "Gather round! Gather round!" he called out, and the students obediently crowded around the stage. "Can everybody see me? Can you all hear me? Excellent." With a flourish, he announced, "In light of the dark events of recent weeks, Professor Dumbledore has granted me permission to start this little Dueling Club, to train you all in case you ever need to defend yourselves, as I myself have done on countless occasions. For full details, see my published works." With that, he pulled off his cape and dramatically tossed it into the crowd, where some of his adoring female fans eagerly caught it.

As Lockhart basked in the attention, Justin Finch-Fletchley turned to Harry with admiration. "That Lockhart's something, isn't he? Awfully brave chap," he said, extending his hand. "Justin Finch-Fletchley, Hufflepuff." Harry shook his hand, replying, "Oh, nice to meet you, I'm --" but Justin interrupted with a grin, "Oh, I know who you are. We all do, even us Muggle-borns." Before Harry could respond, Lockhart's voice cut through, "Let me introduce my assistant, Professor Snape." Snape, looking as dour and menacing as ever, walked up to the stage. Lockhart continued with false bravado, "He has sportingly agreed to help me with a short demonstration. Now, I don't want any of you youngsters to worry; you'll still have your Potions Master when I'm through with him. Never fear." The two professors raised their wands, bowed their heads, and walked several paces back from each other.

"One, two, three," counted Lockhart. But before he could finish, Snape shouted, "Expelliarmus!" The spell blasted Lockhart across the room with a loud "WHOOOOOOOA!" The students laughed as Lockhart landed flat on his back, struggling to get up. Hermione whispered, "Do you think he's all right?" and Ron replied dryly, "Who cares!" Lockhart, brushing himself off, walked back toward Snape, trying to maintain his dignity. "An excellent idea to show them that, Professor Snape, but if you don't mind me saying, it was pretty obvious what you were about to do. If I had wanted to stop you, it would have been only too easy." Snape, unimpressed, suggested smoothly, "Perhaps it would be prudent to first teach the students to block unfriendly spells, Professor."

Lockhart paused nervously, then smiled awkwardly. "An excellent suggestion, Professor Snape. Let's have a volunteer pair. Knight, Weasley, how about you?" As everyone turned to Gray, who stood out among the students, "I swear I am going to drink a shrinking potion," he thought with a groan. Snape, with a sly smile, added, "Excellent; Gray Knight is the top student in my class," much to the frown of Hermione as he continued, "Might I suggest someone from my own house? Malfoy, against Mr. Knight? Since mr weasly wand seems to be broken" Draco smirked and stepped forward, taking the stage with Gray. Lockhart gave Gray a pat on the shoulder. "Good luck, Gray, just do what you did to the pixies." Gray didn't answer as he stared, uninterested.

Lockhart raised his hands, "Wands at the ready." As Gray then moved his robe, revealing his cane, which, of course, caused murmurs among the students as Snape and Lockhart frowned. Draco sneered, "Hah, look at that. Is it okay to battle an old man professor?" he asked Snape, who didn't answer as Gray sighed and said, "The more you talk, the more painful it's going to be," which, of course, Draco didn't take seriously as he took several paces back, aiming his wand at Gray, who had his planted on the stage floor.

Lockhart instructed, "On the count of three, cast your charms to disarm your opponent, only to disarm. We don't want any accidents here. One, two--" but Draco was too quick, shouting, "Everte Statum!" However, instead of causing Gray to fly backward, Gray simply and calmly chanted, which he didnt have to chant to cast the spell, but he couldnt show the proffesor and student that he could perform non verbal magic.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

A/N so yeah, gray can life to 500 years and if he consumed the eternal blood potion, he could look like he is in his 20s at 200 years. also, if, and i mean if, trigon was in the hp universe, how powerful would he be?
