The Cosmic Spider-Web.
[Congratulations! You've received an Invitation to the Resurrection Tournament!]
[Do you wish to participate in the Resurrection Tournament?]
[Yes][No]
The prompt floated before him, but Xia Luo ignored it.
Standing atop the web, he stretched his body, confirming that his superpowers had indeed been restored.
Reflecting on what had just happened, Xia Luo couldn't help but wonder what material the barbs on Bucky's spine were made of.
Penetrating the nanometal wasn't impossible, but his enhanced Spider-Titan physique had even greater durability, and those barbs still managed to pierce his fingers with ease.
It was likely vibranium.
Bucky's internal explosive device had also been mixed with similar fragments, allowing it to completely disintegrate his body.
Otherwise, if it were just the Genetic Destroyer alone, it wouldn't have been enough to kill him.
The Marvel Universe was always full of strange black technologies, difficult to predict and even harder to guard against.
Xia Luo shook his head.
If his enemies had tried using such weapons against him right from the start, there was a good chance he'd have dodged them. Now that he was prepared, Bucky would never be a threat again.
In the end, Bucky had used himself as bait, and it had been very effective—The Invincible Spider-Man had fallen once more.
When villains start getting cautious, they really do become a problem.
With a deep breath, and his body now reset, Xia Luo didn't hesitate. He initiated the Resurrection Tournament.
[Ding! You have entered the Resurrection Scenario.]
New York at night, the top of the Empire State Building.
Xia Luo's figure materialized out of the void.
Staring at the familiar antenna tower, he fell silent.
They're doing this on purpose, aren't they?
[Scenario: Marvel Multiverse, on the eve of the Chitauri invasion of Earth.]
[Objective 1: Defeat Chitauri soldiers in this world. The participant with the highest kill count will receive a reward.]
[Objective 2: Defeat Avengers in this world. The participant with the highest kill count will receive a reward.]
[Objective 3: Defeat other participants. The participant with the highest kill count will receive a reward.]
[Objective 4: Defeat Loki in this world for a reward.]
[Objective 5: Defeat Thanos in this world for a reward.]
[Objective 6: Defeat Odin in this world for a reward.]
[Reward 1: Resurrection Slot x1]
[Reward 2: 100 Kill Points]
Participants: Xia Luo Parker, Steve Rogers, Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, Norman Osborn, Peter Parker, Loki, Stephen Strange, Max Dillon, Curt Connors.
Resurrection Count: 18
Time until the event begins: 1 minute.
Time until the event ends: 24 hours.
Xia Luo studied the prompt in front of him, silent once more.
This resurrection event was incredibly straightforward and brutal—a free-for-all massacre.
Defeating some of the targets was feasible, but... Odin? Really?
The All-Father of the gods, Odin. If he didn't want to die, not even all the participants combined could kill him.
So, Objective 6 was out. Objective 5, too—who knew where Thanos might be hiding?
This was going to be a bloodbath, and Xia Luo could already predict the coming chaos.
Sure enough, as soon as the one-minute countdown ended, a powerful blue light exploded in the nearby bustling city district.
Crackle.
Suddenly, lights across a vast section of the city began flickering. Visible arcs of electricity gathered towards the blue glow.
Electro—Max Dillon?
Xia Luo guessed, immediately leaping from the skyscraper's peak.
Whoosh!
The wind howled past as he activated his glider wings and soared towards the source of the blue light.
"Whoa, what's that?"
"A new superhero?"
"Never seen him before."
"He looks like a bug…"
Before long, Xia Luo neared the scene. He swung down into a shadowy alleyway, tapping the Spider emblem on his chest.
Shhhk.
The nanometal rapidly retracted, revealing his red-and-blue jacket underneath. He pulled up the hood, disguising himself as an ordinary civilian before stepping out.
At the center of the street, bright blue electric arcs danced wildly. A glowing blue figure stood gripping thick cables, ravenously absorbing the city's power.
Crackle!
Blinding blue electricity pulsed through the air, highlighting Max's skin—veins popping beneath his blue exterior, his entire body seemingly made of raw current, both dangerous and mesmerizing.
Even with the danger, plenty of citizens lingered in the shadows to witness the scene.
"Oh my god, he's absorbing the electricity!"
"Is he some kind of electric god?"
"No, he must be a god of thunder."
"Oh my god, so that's what Thor looks like?"
In a world of superheroes, no scene was ever too perilous to deter curious onlookers.
Xia Luo squeezed into the crowd, observing.
He wasn't about to recklessly confront Electro. Unlike Spider-Man from The Amazing Spider-Man, he didn't have lightning-speed reflexes.
This guy had absorbed a colossal amount of power, reaching his peak strength. Facing him head-on would just make Xia Luo an easy target for other participants to snipe.
"Hey, found you."
Suddenly, a familiar voice spoke behind him.
Xia Luo turned to see Old Man Steve, also dressed in casual clothes. His iconic shield was wrapped in a tattered cloth, clearly trying to avoid being spotted by other competitors.
"Good. Looks like we'll get to enjoy another Resurrection Tournament together," Old Man Steve said, his expression one of genuine delight.
Xia Luo's face fell. "I have a feeling you mean something else by that."
"Don't misunderstand. I really am glad," Steve replied, stepping closer, his face lined with loneliness. "At least for the next twenty-four hours, I have someone familiar to keep me company."
Now he was just a lonely old man craving companionship.
"Sorry you've had to go through this," Xia Luo said, patting him on the shoulder. "But don't lose hope. Maybe this time, one of the rewards will extend your life so you won't have to keep doing these tournaments."
"We'll see. Who knows if I'll even win," Old Man Steve said with a sigh. "I really envy Stark—he's probably telling Morgan a bedtime story right now."
Xia Luo raised an eyebrow.
"If you came back to life, there should have been some time before… your end. You didn't manage to revive last time, but Natasha might have dug up your casket, so you probably saw her."
Old Man Steve nodded. "Yes, but it was less than a minute."
Their conversation was cut short when a sudden, intense flicker of electric light erupted at the center of the street, the arcs beginning to spread wildly.
Crackle!
Boom!
Electricity lashed out like a whip, causing storefronts and parked cars to burst into flames. Only now did the crowd begin to panic.
"Run! Run!"
"The thunder god is attacking!"
Amid the chaos, Old Man Steve instinctively raised his shield to shield the people from the incoming bolts.
At that moment, the roar of an aircraft echoed above—the familiar sight of a Quinjet descending rapidly.
The young Captain America leapt out, shield at the ready.
"Hey! Are you the 'god of thunder' Fury mentioned? Stop right there!"

T/N: I don't think anyone called him the Invincible Spider-Man before...
I realized the format sometimes becomes off when I paste it from Patreon so from now on we shouldn't have that mistake because I will look it over! (i probably should've been doing that from the beginning smirking cat emoji)
