Bab 44: Chapter 45: Putting Them Behind Bars
He leaned back in the chair, his eyes never leaving her face, and waited for her to wake up.
Lisa woke up grudgingly She didn't know how long she slept, but when she woke up, the room was dark, and the only sound was the soft hum of the air conditioning.
As she slowly sat up, she realized that her stomach didn't hurt as much as it had before. She looked around the room, trying to remember what had happened earlier. That's when she saw Lugard sitting in the armchair, watching her.
"How long have you been there?" Lisa asked, her voice still husky from sleep.
"Long enough," Lugard replied, his eyes never leaving hers.
Lisa felt a shiver run down her spine as she realized he had been watching her sleep. She didn't know what to make of it, but she tried to brush it off.
"Why are you here?" she asked, trying to sound calm.
"I'm making sure you don't try to escape or cause trouble again," Lugard said, his voice firm but gentle.
Lisa sighed, feeling a mix of emotions. She was grateful for his concern, but she also felt trapped and frustrated. always calling me a troublemaker am I really that troublesome, how much trouble have I cost him this short period to make him give me that name? Lisa thought blinking in confusion.
The next morning, Dr. Lee returned with a nurse, who was carrying a small machine. "Good morning, Miss Lisa," Dr. Lee said softly, his eyes scanning her face. "Today, we're going to do an ultrasound to check for any internal damage."
Lisa stirred, still groggy from the sedation. Lugard stood up, his eyes fixed on her face. "Do you need me to leave?" he asked the doctor.
Dr. Lee shook his head. "No, Mr. Lugard. You can stay. But please, try not to disturb her."
Lugard nodded, his eyes never leaving Lisa's face.
The nurse enters the room carrying a small machine, and Dr. Lee begins to set it up. Lisa, still groggy from sedation, stirs as the nurse gently lifts her top to reveal her bruised stomach.
Dr. Lee applies a clear gel to her skin, and the nurse places the ultrasound probe on her abdomen. The machine whirs to life, displaying images on a screen.
Dr. Lee examines the images, his expression serious.
Lugard watches intently, his eyes fixed on the screen, his jaw clenched in anger. Lisa winces, her eyes fluttering open, as the probe moves across her tender skin. The machine beeps, and Dr. Lee pauses, taking a closer look.
"It looks like there's some internal bleeding," Dr. Lee says, his voice firm. "We'll need to monitor her closely." Lugard's grip on the armchair tightens, his eyes never leaving Lisa's face.
Lisa's eyes met Lugard's, and she saw the concern etched on his face. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable.
Before Lugard's face returned to its usual cold, stoic mask, his eyes glinting with a hint of satisfaction. He had already taken care of the person responsible for Lisa's injuries, and their family would never again pose a threat.
Dr. Lee hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. "I...I don't know who did it, Mr. Lugard. But I can tell you that Lisa's injuries are consistent with a violent attack."
Lugard's expression didn't change, but his voice took on a hint of disdain. "I already know who did it, Doctor. And they've been dealt with."
Lisa's eyes narrowed, sensing the undercurrents in Lugard's tone. She knew the rumors said that he was capable of ruthless action, and she wondered what he had done to the person responsible.
but thinking about how people rumored and painted him as an ugly beast, but in reality, he is a beauty god, Lisa felt like teaching those people a lesson and putting them behind bars.
Dr. Lee's eyes widened slightly at Lugard's response, but he didn't press the issue. Instead, he turned his attention back to Lisa, his hands moving with precision as he examined her.
"Lisa, can you tell me how you're feeling today?" he asked, his voice gentle.
Lisa hesitated, her eyes darting to Lugard before returning to the doctor. "I...I'm feeling a bit better, I think. The pain is still there, but it's not as sharp as it was before."
Dr. Lee nodded, his eyes scanning her face. "Good. That's good. I'm going to check your vitals now, okay?"
Lisa nodded, her eyes fixed on the doctor's hands as he worked. Lugard watched, his expression unreadable, as Dr. Lee checked Lisa's pulse, her blood pressure, and her temperature.
"Everything looks good," Dr. Lee said finally, stepping back from the bed. "You're on the mend, Lisa. But I want to keep you here for a few more days, just to make sure."
Lisa nodded, her eyes drooping slightly. Lugard's gaze narrowed, his eyes fixed on her face.
"Doctor, can I have a word with you?" he asked, his voice low.
Dr. Lee nodded, following Lugard out of the room. Lisa watched them go, her mind racing with questions. What were they talking about? And why did Lugard look so intense?
Outside the room, Lugard's expression turned serious. "Mr. Lee, I want to know everything about Lisa's condition. I want to know what she needs to recover, and I want to know what could happen if she doesn't get it."
Dr. Lee nodded, his eyes serious. "Of course, Mr. Lugard. Lisa's injuries were severe, but she's lucky to have received medical attention when she did. However, there is still a risk of complications..."
Lugard's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched. "What kind of complications?"
Dr. Lee hesitated before answering. "There's a risk of infection, of course. And also...also a risk of long-term damage to her internal organs."
Lugard's face darkened, his eyes flashing with anger. "I want to know everything," he repeated. "I want to know what I can do to help her."
Dr. Lee nodded, his expression sympathetic. "I'll make sure you have all the information you need, Mr. Lugard. But I have to warn you...Lisa's recovery will take time. And it won't be easy."
how long,? Lugard asked.
the doctor think for a moment, "It's difficult to predict exactly, Mr. Lugard," Dr. Lee replied, "but I'd estimate at least several weeks, possibly even a month, of recovery time. And even then, there may be ongoing care and therapy required to ensure she regains full strength and mobility."
Lugard's jaw clenched, his eyes burning with determination. "I don't care about the time," he growled. "I just want to make sure she gets better."
Dr. Lee nodded a small smile on his face. "I understand, Mr. Lugard. And I'll make sure you're kept informed of her progress every step of the way.
Lugard's expression didn't change, but his eyes seemed to burn with determination. "I don't care about easy," he said. "I just want her to get better."
Dr. Lee's expression turned serious. "Mr. Lugard, I need to warn you...Lisa's injuries are severe, and she needs time to heal. I strongly advise against any...physical activity until she's fully recovered."
Lugard's eyes narrowed, his face darkening. "What are you trying to say, Doctor?"
Dr. Lee hesitated before answering. "I'm saying that...intimate relations could be harmful to Lisa's health right now. She needs rest and care, not...not physical stress."
Lugard's expression didn't change, but his eyes seemed to burn with intensity. he opens his mouth to say I haven't even touched her for once. "I understand," he said finally. "I'll make sure she gets the rest she needs."
Dr. Lee nodded, looking relieved. "Good. I'll check on her again tomorrow."
As the doctor left, Lugard's gaze turned back to Lisa's room. He stood there for a moment, his eyes fixed on the door, his expression unreadable. why is this troublemaker so delicate as breaking a stick? One punch damaged several organs. he said in his mind.
Then, he turned and walked away, his footsteps echoing down the hallway.
Lisa slowly got out of bed, her body still aching from her injuries. She made her way to the dining room after taking a shower, hoping to find Lugard there. But when she arrived, she was disappointed to see that he wasn't there.
