Bab 99: The Dynria Ceremony

It's the morning of Caspian's Dynria, and my nerves are wound tighter than a drum. I move through the castle like a whirlwind, double-checking every detail to make sure everything is perfect before heading up to get dressed. My night had ended much later than I intended after a long evening with the girls. Kamari had asked me to braid her hair, and I couldn't refuse. What was supposed to be a quick task turned into an hours-long session. Kamari fell asleep halfway through, lulled by the rhythm of my humming as I worked. Even in sleep, she looked peaceful, her little face relaxed, trusting. It was a feeling I wanted to keep for her always.

As I finished her braids and covered her with a blanket, I took a moment to reflect on how far we had come since the ordeal in Arcanthia. The children had been through so much, yet they still found ways to smile and trust.
