The stairwell was dim and quiet, the air thick with the stale smell of dust and neglect. Every step felt like a victory, bringing me closer to her. I could feel her presence in these walls, a faint echo that told me Azaria had been here. Behind me, my Beta, Marcus and a few loyal warriors moved silently, following my lead as we approached the fourth floor of her old condo building.

It was the perfect setup: a quiet building, no guards, no hint of protection. She thought she could hide Caspian from me, shield him from his rightful place. My lips curled in a slow smile as I thought of the look on her face when I'd drag him out of here myself. Azaria was mine. Caspian was mine. And no one, not even that worthless Lillian, would stop me from reclaiming what was mine.
