Dawn came quickly, the sky a blend of pinks and oranges as the sun began to rise over the horizon. We gathered in front of the podium, the air thick with anticipation and the promise of challenges to come. My breath fogged in the crisp morning air as I stood among the other candidates, waiting for the Commander to speak. There was a tense energy in the air, an almost palpable hum that seemed to vibrate through the gathered crowd. Every face was set with determination, every gaze fixed on the podium where Knight Commander Ermais and Chief Guard Terrance stood side by side, their imposing figures silhouetted against the early morning light.
