Bab 12: Chapter 11: So it Begins

Remy's world was dark, disjointed. Fragments of memories flickered in his mind—the searing heat of explosions, the brutal force of Bane's fists, and the chilling silence that followed his collapse. He was dimly aware of the weight of his body, of pain that gripped him like a vice, but it was distant, muted as if his mind was shielding him from the worst of it. Slowly, consciousness began to return, and with it, the agony.

His eyelids fluttered open, and he blinked against the dim light. His senses slowly sharpened, and he realized he was no longer on the streets of Detroit. Instead, he found himself in a dimly lit cave, the air cool and damp, the walls carved from rock. He was lying on a metal table, surrounded by advanced medical equipment and the unmistakable hum of technology. The cavern around him felt immense, the ceiling lost in shadow. He tried to sit up but immediately regretted it.

"Ugh," he groaned as his body screamed in protest. He tried again, but his muscles refused to obey, the pain flaring up from every nerve. It was like trying to move through quicksand—his spine ached, his ribs felt like they were made of broken glass, and every inch of him was bruised and battered.

"You should stay down," a low, gravelly voice said from the shadows.

Remy turned his head slightly, wincing as he did. From the darkness, Batman emerged, his cape flowing behind him like a shadow come to life. The Dark Knight's gaze was steady, cold but not unkind.

"Your spine is cracked," Batman continued as he approached the table. "You have four broken ribs, ten other fractures across your body, and extensive muscle damage. Moving right now is a bad idea."

Remy grimaced, lying back against the table. "Sounds like ya found out who I am," he muttered, his voice strained. "Well, guess that cat's outta the bag now. Whatever."

Batman's expression didn't change. "Your identity was never a secret to me," he said matter-of-factly. "I've known from the moment I set foot in in Detroit."

"Great," Remy sighed, his breath shallow from the pain. He glanced around the cave again, trying to focus through the fog of his injuries. "Where am I?"

"Gotham," Batman replied, his voice steady as ever.

"Gotham?" Remy's eyes widened slightly, though even that movement sent a spike of pain through his head. "Why am I in Gotham? People are attacking my city. They're tryin' to kill me, and you just—what? Decide to haul me across the country?"

"I have people in Detroit protecting your city while you heal," Batman said, his tone hard, but not unkind. "It's under control."

Remy let out a long, shaky breath. A part of him wanted to be angry, to rage against the helplessness of his situation, but he was too exhausted, too broken. Instead, he simply whispered, "Thank you."

He looked up at Batman, the question slipping out before he could stop himself. "Why, though? Why are you so invested in me? You're the Bat. Gotham's your playground, not Detroit. What do you care what happens to me?"

Batman was silent for a moment, his eyes flickering away from Remy's face. The Dark Knight's gaze moved to the far side of the cave, and for the first time, Remy noticed something standing there. A glass case. Inside, a shattered Robin costume, blackened and torn, the colors muted under the cold light.

"You remind me of someone I knew," Batman said quietly, his voice lower than before, laced with something almost imperceptible—grief, regret, perhaps both.

Remy's eyes traveled to the plaque beneath the case, and he read the name engraved in cold, hard letters: Jason Todd. A Good Soldier.

Before Remy could say anything, Batman turned away, walking back into the shadows, his cape sweeping behind him. The conversation was over.

Remy stared at the case a moment longer, the weight of Batman's words sinking in. Jason Todd. He had heard whispers, rumors on the streets. A Robin who had died, who had been a soldier in Batman's war. A boy who had been broken and lost.

A heavy silence fell over the cave, broken only by the quiet hum of the machines keeping Remy alive.

Meanwhile, in Detroit, a far different scene was unfolding. The skyline glittered under the night sky, but the streets were filled with tension. In a darkened warehouse, the upper floors of an old industrial building, three men stood around a long table covered with maps, weapons, and money. Penguin, Bane, and Two-Face surveyed their empire with smug satisfaction. Their recent victory over Gambit had given them the upper hand, and with no hero left to oppose them, Detroit was theirs to rule.

"This city's ours," Penguin crowed, his nasally voice grating against the silence. "No capes, no interference. Just us. Finally."

Bane stood silently, his arms crossed over his massive chest. He still bore the burns and injuries from his battle with Gambit, his body wrapped in bandages, but his cold, calculating gaze never wavered. Two-Face, flipping his coin idly, gave a half-smile.

"We beat the card-tosser," Two-Face said with a grin. "Now there's no one left. We'll run this city with no one to stop us."

As they celebrated, a loud crash shattered the moment. The glass ceiling above them exploded in a shower of shards, raining down as three figures descended from the night sky. Nightwing, Red Robin, and Black Bat landed with fluid grace, their capes billowing behind them as they hit the ground, weapons drawn and ready for battle.

Nightwing looked up, his eyes gleaming behind his mask. "Sorry to crash the party," he said with a smirk, twirling his escrima sticks. "But you're all going to jail tonight."

Chaos erupted. The warehouse filled with the sound of shouts and gunfire as Penguin and Two-Face's goons rushed to attack. Red Robin and Black Bat moved like shadows, their forms a blur of motion as they dispatched the thugs with brutal efficiency. Black Bat's fists and feet struck like lightning, her movements precise and deadly, while Red Robin's bo staff twirled and struck, taking down enemies with calculated precision.

Nightwing, however, had his eyes locked on Bane.

The hulking villain cracked his neck, rolling his shoulders as he stepped forward. Despite his injuries from the fight with Gambit, Bane was still a towering threat, his muscles bulging as he activated the venom flowing through his veins.

"Nightwing," Bane growled, his voice low and dangerous. "I was hoping you'd show up."

"Sorry to disappoint, Bane," Nightwing said, his voice cool. "But I'm not in the mood for a rematch."

Bane charged forward, his massive fists swinging toward Nightwing with devastating force. Nightwing dodged, slipping under Bane's strike with the agility of a gymnast, his escrima sticks crackling with electricity as he struck Bane's ribs. The force of the blow sent a jolt through Bane's body, causing him to stagger, but he recovered quickly, lashing out with a powerful backhand.

Nightwing ducked, rolling to the side and landing a swift kick to Bane's knee, trying to exploit the villain's earlier injuries. Bane grunted in pain, but his anger only grew. He roared and swung again, this time catching Nightwing off guard. The punch connected, sending Nightwing crashing into a pile of crates.

As Nightwing struggled to regain his footing, Black Bat and Red Robin finished off the last of the goons. The two heroes exchanged a glance, then charged toward Bane, joining Nightwing in the fight.

Together, the three of them surrounded Bane, their attacks coordinated and relentless. Red Robin's bo staff struck Bane's back, while Black Bat moved in from the side, landing a flurry of punches to his torso. Nightwing, recovering from the earlier hit, leaped back into the fray, his escrima sticks striking with precision.

Bane fought back, but the combined efforts of the three heroes were too much for him in his weakened state. Each of their strikes landed with brutal efficiency, targeting his injuries from the previous battle with Gambit. Finally, with a powerful swing from Nightwing, Bane was knocked to the ground, his massive frame collapsing in defeat.

Breathing heavily, Nightwing wiped the sweat from his brow and looked down at the fallen villain. "And that's how you take down a giant."

Outside the warehouse, Penguin and Two-Face had slipped away during the chaos, but they didn't get far. As they reached the alleyway, a dark figure appeared in front of them, blocking their escape. It was Robin, his green mask gleaming in the dim light.

"Where do you think you're going?" Robin asked with a smirk, twirling his sword.

Before Penguin or Two-Face could react, Robin lunged forward, knocking Two-Face out with a swift strike to the head. Penguin, panicking, pulled out his signature umbrella, aiming it at Robin. But the Boy Wonder was faster. He disarmed Penguin with ease, kicking the umbrella from his hand and landing a quick series of blows that sent the crime lord crashing into a wall.

"Too easy," Robin muttered, tying the unconscious villains with a length of rope. He dragged them back toward the warehouse, where Nightwing, Red Robin, and Black Bat were waiting.

"Well, that was fun," Nightwing said, crossing his arms as he watched Robin approach. "But we should probably get out of here before the cops show up."

As if on cue, the distant sound of sirens filled the air. The heroes exchanged quick nods, disappearing into the shadows just as the police arrived.

Unbeknownst to them, a figure watched from the rooftop above, his red helmet gleaming under the moonlight. He stood still as a statue, his arms crossed as he observed the heroes below.

"And so it begins," the man in the red helmet whispered, his voice low and filled with intent.

The night was far from over.

(A.N: So Before Jake was in the body of Remy the original body was a orphan who left the orphanage at 11 and became a thief and a delinquent who got arrested a lot but while gambling he got caught cheating and they killed gun the Jake reincarnated in that body. So that what Batman meant when he said he reminded Remy of Jason. Another thing I decided to recon him being black he looks like regular gambit so I will change that in the Bio)
