When Harry and the others followed Hagrid into the Forbidden Forest, Eisen observed everything through the mirror.
Earlier that day, when Hermione told him Harry had been punished with detention, Eisen had already anticipated what would happen that night.
Eisen considered secretly following them into the forest to experience the night and perhaps even confront Quirrell, who was possessed by Voldemort. But after some thought, he dismissed the idea.
Firstly, Eisen's primary goal was the Philosopher's Stone, so complicating things unnecessarily seemed unwise. If someone discovered him wandering the forest in the middle of the night, he'd have no way to explain such odd behavior.
Secondly, encountering Quirrell could alter the course of events. If Eisen killed Quirrell, it would derail the plot completely. Even if he didn't, Voldemort might change his plans after being discovered.
Thus, either outcome was unacceptable for Eisen, who had yet to obtain the Philosopher's Stone.
As he watched the group through the mirror, Eisen sighed. He could teleport anywhere within a five-mile radius with Apparition and the observation mirror, but Hogwarts' anti-Apparition enchantments prevented him from using that ability within the school.
"If I could make a Portkey, would that bypass the restriction?" Eisen mused aloud, noting the idea for later.
Shifting his focus back to the mirror, he saw Hagrid and Harry moving deeper into the Forbidden Forest, with Malfoy, Neville, and Fang now separated. Hagrid and Harry walked silently through the moonlit forest, their faces anxious.
A few minutes later, they encountered a centaur in a clearing. Hagrid seemed familiar with him, as the two exchanged words. Eisen recognized the centaur as Ronan.
Harry, meanwhile, stood in awe. The creature had a human upper body with red hair and a beard, but below the waist was a reddish-brown horse.
Hagrid introduced Harry, but Ronan seemed distracted, gazing up at the stars. Eisen couldn't see anything significant in the sky but remembered centaurs used celestial divination. Perhaps Ronan saw something Eisen couldn't.
Growing impatient, Hagrid soon moved on, only to be startled by another centaur who appeared from the forest with a bow drawn. Realizing who it was, Hagrid greeted him as well.
Clearly, Hagrid was well-acquainted with many of the creatures in the Forbidden Forest. After some brief words, they continued deeper into the forest. The dense woods were filled with the ominous sense that something might leap out at any moment.
Suddenly, Harry grabbed Hagrid's sleeve and pointed. Red sparks flashed in the distance.
Eisen saw Hagrid rush off, leaving Harry behind. Before long, Hagrid returned with Malfoy, Neville, and Fang. Hagrid angrily scolded Malfoy, regrouped the students, and paired Harry with Malfoy.
As they continued, Harry and Malfoy stayed close, perhaps too frightened to argue. In a clearing, Harry pointed to the bushes, eyes wide.
Eisen shifted his view and saw a shining white figure—the body of a dead unicorn. Eisen had previously seen magical creatures like goblins and phoenixes, which, despite their reputations, he found rather unattractive. But the unicorn was truly beautiful, even in death.
He knew the unicorn had been killed by Quirrell, who was sustaining Voldemort by drinking its blood. Voldemort needed enough time to steal the Philosopher's Stone, which would grant him full resurrection and immense power.
Before Harry could react, a hooded figure emerged from the darkness, crawling to the unicorn's body to drink its blood.
"Will something really happen?" Eisen wondered, knowing how the events played out in the original plot but uncertain if things would follow the same course.
Fortunately, things went as expected. After Malfoy and Fang fled, and Harry faced danger alone, he was rescued by the centaur Firenze.
Firenze allowed Harry to ride on his back and brought him to safety with Hagrid.
Satisfied that the events were unfolding as they should, Eisen put away the observation mirror. Harry had likely learned from Firenze that Voldemort was targeting the Philosopher's Stone. The next steps in the plot were on track. Eisen suspected Harry would inform Hermione and Ron as soon as he returned.
Sure enough, the next morning during breakfast, the trio recounted Harry's encounter to Eisen.
"So, you think Snape isn't after the Philosopher's Stone for wealth, but for Voldemort?" Eisen asked after Harry finished speaking quietly.
"Exactly! Voldemort doesn't care about the curse of unicorn blood because once he gets the Stone, he'll be fully restored!" Harry's eyes gleamed, and he almost jumped from his seat in excitement.
"The centaur said You-Know-Who is coming to Hogwarts to kill you?" Ron asked, looking nervous and lowering his voice as he stared at Harry.
"But everyone knows the only person Voldemort ever feared is Dumbledore. As long as Dumbledore is here, Voldemort won't dare enter Hogwarts!" Hermione analyzed calmly. "Besides, just because the centaurs say something doesn't mean it's true."
After reasoning through it, they concluded that Hogwarts was safe under Dumbledore's protection. Hermione also dismissed the centaur's prophecy about Voldemort killing Harry as unreliable magic, something even Professor McGonagall didn't trust.
Eisen agreed with Hermione's skepticism about centaur prophecies. "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on Snape. He won't have a chance to steal the Philosopher's Stone," Eisen reassured the trio.
Harry remained concerned, but his worries had eased somewhat.
In reality, Eisen didn't need to monitor Snape closely, since Snape wasn't the one trying to steal the Philosopher's Stone.
