For Lin Fan, the elf matter was solely about preventing his daughter's sadness and distress.
Of course… even without his daughter's involvement, if he had stumbled upon such a tragic scene, he wouldn't have stood idly by. After all, he was a kind person.
"Magic truly is wondrous. It appears complex, but when reduced to its essence, it's quite simple."
Others chant incantations to focus their mental energy, sense the elements, and beseech them for power. Lin Fan, however, controlled the elements directly.
He noticed that the particles floating in the air here differed from those in Yanhai City. Despite the variations, they shared fundamental similarities.
Resurrection magic could be said to both exist and not exist. Its existence stemmed from Lin Fan's immense power. His constant communion with nature allowed him to perceive things others couldn't. The reason others couldn't sense these things was simple: they were too weak.
All things live, implying the existence of a life element. Even if it's imperceptible, its existence cannot be denied.
Take the destructive lightning element, for instance. If someone could master it, it would be considered one of the seven elemental powers. But according to Lin Fan, there were far more than seven elements; countless others remained undiscovered.
As Lin Fan cast his formidable resurrection magic, mages across the world felt the intense magical fluctuations. It was terrifying, awe-inspiring, as if the God of Magic had descended, manipulating every magical element in existence.
Returning to the village and looking at the steaming hot pot, he sighed. The hot pot he had prepared for his daughter and her friends was barely touched. They had just begun when this incident occurred.
"Sigh!"
Lin Fan usually maintained a cheerful disposition, but this incident had dampened his spirits. He picked up his chopsticks and ate a slice of meat.
Although the food was delicious, everything felt bland. For Lin Fan, enjoyment depended on the company.
Meanwhile, back in the elf territory, a teleportation spell activated. A massive magic circle appeared on the ground. This was a teleportation scroll, something beyond Coran and her friends' current abilities. However, their adventures had yielded some valuable items.
Such precious items were meant for life-or-death situations. Now, due to the crisis in Sylph's homeland, they unhesitatingly used the precious scroll.
Four figures gradually materialized.
Sylph was deeply worried. She didn't know what had happened to her homeland. Her mind conjured images of a devastated home, filled with war and the corpses of familiar faces.
If that were true, she wouldn't be able to bear it. She would completely break down, losing all hope for the future. Her homeland was the most important place in her heart.
"It's alright, it'll be alright," Coran comforted Sylph. She knew the devastating impact such a tragedy would have on Sylph.
Tia also offered words of comfort.
Olivia's face was grave. Sylph was their dearest friend, and none of them wanted to witness such a horrific scene.
They arrived in the elf territory.
The surroundings were different from what they had imagined. Life flourished. Lush greenery abounded. It was truly a beautiful place.
"It seems like nothing happened here. Did we make a mistake?" Coran asked.
Sylph looked at the scene, stunned. She had sensed a heart-wrenching event, but the current situation puzzled her.
Could it be… that I was wrong?
"I…" She wanted to speak, but just then, a figure darted through the distant forest.
"Sister Sylph!"
A young elf girl, wielding a miniature bow and arrow, emerged from the forest.
She ran happily towards Sylph.
Seeing Elle, Sylph felt a surge of relief, but even more questions arose.
Why did I have that feeling?
The current situation was completely different from what she had envisioned. She couldn't have been wrong. Something must have happened to cause such a sensation.
"Elle, did something happen in the village?" Sylph asked.
Coran and the others exchanged glances, confusion evident in their eyes.
Based on their current observations, nothing seemed amiss.
The surroundings were peaceful and safe.
Elle, with a cheerful face, turned pale as she recalled the terrifying scene.
Seeing her expression, Sylph knew something had occurred.
"Sister Sylph, something did happen before you returned," Elle said. She was young, and the memory of the event sent shivers down her spine, leaving a deep impact on her young mind.
"What happened?"
"The demons came, so many demons!" Elle spread her arms wide, trying to convey the sheer number of demons, a number too vast for her to comprehend.
As an elf princess, Sylph knew the demons' terrifying nature. They were brutal beings who destroyed everything beautiful.
The thought of the demons' arrival made her heart clench. She could easily imagine the horrific and tragic scene her people must have faced. But seeing Elle alive meant they had driven the demons away.
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid. The demons have been driven away, they won't come back again."
Sylph comforted her. She knew that scene must have been terrifying for Elle, who loved nature and enjoyed playing in the forest with flowers and birds.
However, Elle's next words made Sylph's face pale.
Not only Sylph, but Coran and the others also paled.
"Sister Sylph, I was dead before," Elle said.
"Don't be silly."
"I'm not being silly. Everyone was dead. I don't understand why we're alive again. It's so strange."
Elle was telling the truth.
She only remembered being killed by the demons, then waking up to find everyone alive. She was happy but didn't understand how it happened.
Sylph's pupils dilated. She couldn't believe what Elle was saying.
She knew that to understand what truly happened, she had to ask her mother. She patted Elle's head gently and told her to go play. Some things were beyond a child's understanding.
Elle happily skipped away. She was going to collect honey, sweet and delicious.
Coran said, "That child is still young, she probably doesn't understand what happened."
"Yes," Sylph nodded, though she knew Elle wouldn't lie. However, Elle's words had left her confused.
To find the truth, she had to ask her mother.
Olivia pondered Elle's words. Demons were terrifying, a race feared throughout the land. They were powerful, and few races could rival them.
Except, of course, the dragons.
Honestly, if Elle's words were true, and the demons had waged war against the elves, the elves would have struggled to defend themselves.
But… looking at the surroundings, there was no sign of war. Everything was so peaceful.
Soon, the scene before them puzzled them again.
Numerous elves were building houses.
It was strange. The houses were damaged, but the surrounding environment was intact, showing no signs of destruction.
At the Elf Queen's residence:
"Mother, I'm back," Sylph hurried in. Seeing her mother, she breathed a sigh of relief, reassured that everything was alright.
The Elf Queen wasn't surprised by her daughter's return. She knew Sylph could sense what had happened in the elf territory.
It was Coran and her friends' first time meeting the Elf Queen.
"So beautiful," Coran thought, admiring the Elf Queen's dignified, mature, and holy appearance. No one could ignore her beauty.
Tia and Olivia nodded in agreement.
Indeed, she was beautiful.
The Elf Queen smiled, recognizing her daughter's friends, and welcomed them warmly.
"Mother, what happened in the village? Elle said the demons attacked, and everyone died, but I see everyone is here," Sylph inquired.
The Elf Queen slowly replied, "You're right. The demons attacked, destroyed the elf territory, and killed everyone, including me."
"But…" Sylph stammered, her mind in turmoil, unable to grasp the situation.
"Listen to me. The demons destroyed the elf territory and killed all the elves. But a mysterious person appeared and resurrected all the elves, restoring the damaged environment and the Tree of Life," the Elf Queen explained.
Sylph was shocked.
Resurrection?
Not only was Sylph stunned, but Coran and her friends were also dumbfounded. Such a thing was beyond their comprehension.
Tia asked curiously, "Is there such a thing as resurrection magic?"
Olivia shook her head. "I've never heard of it, let alone seen it. Resurrection magic doesn't exist, does it?"
The Elf Queen said, "You're right. Resurrection magic doesn't exist. I used to believe there was no such powerful magic in this world, but when it happened to us, I realized it was real. You might not believe it, but it does exist."
"Then who is he?" Sylph asked.
The Elf Queen recalled, "He was mysterious. I couldn't see his face, nor did I know who he was. But before he left, I asked him, and he only said one thing: he didn't want her to be sad."
"I thought for a long time about who in the elf tribe would know such a powerful and mysterious person."
"Later, I consulted ancient texts. The eighth Elf Queen fell in love with a human. But at that time, humans were capturing and selling elves, creating deep resentment. They faced opposition from all the elves and eventually left…"
"I think that mysterious person must be him."
Hearing her mother's words, Sylph was astonished.
The eighth Queen?
It was now the twenty-somethingth generation.
Thousands of years had passed.
How could he still be alive?
