During the following period, Sui, along with Miyoko and the other members of the Rare Ingredients Research Society, successfully defeated three more research societies.
The activity room had become filled with new kitchen equipment and various ingredients, all of which had been claimed from the defeated research societies.
During regular classes, the academy provided ingredients for students to use, but when it came to personal research, they had to purchase everything themselves. Each research society's monthly budget was primarily spent on ingredients and kitchen tools.
"Look at all this loot!" Megumi and the others were awestruck as they glanced around the room, taking in the vast collection of spoils.
"If you see anything you like, just take it," Sui said generously. Since he had no plans to expand their membership, it would be a waste to leave so many ingredients and kitchen tools unused.
"Whoa! Look at all this 5A-grade beef!" Yoshino exclaimed, staring at the high-quality beef, practically drooling.
"Oh, we got that from the Beef Cooking Research Society," Miyoko explained, laughing. "They saved up their activity funds for months to buy it, but we won it from them."
"Is that a new electric kettle?" Megumi asked, spotting a brand-new kettle. "I've wanted one for my dorm room for ages but could never justify the expense."
"Go ahead and take it if you like," Sui offered with a smile.
"Really? Are you sure? This brand is super expensive," Megumi asked hesitantly.
"It's fine. We're all part of the same team, right? Take whatever you need," Sui replied with a grin.
Blushing slightly, Megumi nodded and accepted.
After that, everyone picked out something they liked. Subaru grabbed a few high-quality kitchen knives, Miyoko took some 5A-grade beef, and Megumi and the others also claimed a variety of ingredients and tools.
Once the spoils were divided, the group gathered to enjoy a beef hotpot together.
"Sui, next time you go 'raiding' and fighting Shokugekis, take me with you!" Yoshino, thrilled with her share of the "loot," clung to Sui's leg, pleading.
Sui sighed, speechless. Did she really just call it a 'raid'? We won fair and square through Shokugekis! he thought to himself.
Meanwhile, at the same time, another showdown was concluding elsewhere.
"The winner is Alice from the Molecular Gastronomy Research Society!" announced Kawashima Rei.
"Damn it... Now we don't even have an activity room, not even one that stray dogs would want!" Gouda Hayashi Kiyoshi cried, tears streaming down his face.
Alice, however, was absolutely thrilled. "Great! Let's keep going and dominate Totsuki!"
With a small flag in hand, she marched triumphantly, while the group of students following her glanced around anxiously, clearly unsure what to do.
After finishing his classes for the day, Sui returned to his home.
"I've won six battles today. If I win four more tomorrow, I'll complete my mission," Sui thought to himself.
That night, Erina, still unwilling to accept her previous defeats, challenged Sui to another cooking competition. Unfortunately for her, the outcome was the same—she was defeated once again.
Sui smiled, effortlessly picking up the proud heiress and carrying her toward the bedroom ready for another battle.
"Next time! Next time, I'll definitely win!" Erina screamed as she struggled in his arms.
…
The next day, as Sui made his way to the Totsuki teaching area, he noticed students staring at him with awe and whispers following him wherever he went.
"Hey, did you hear? That transfer student took down six research societies yesterday!"
"Yeah, I heard some of them were long-standing societies with a lot of history."
"The Rare Ingredients Research Society has become something to fear."
When Sui arrived at his activity room, he found that Miyoko, Subaru, and the others had already gathered there. Even Yoshino, Megumi, and Ryoko were present.
"Sui, I'm cheering for you today! Go get 'em!" Yoshino wore a headband that read "Victory is a Must!" and had even prepared a banner to show her support.
"That's right! The Rare Ingredients Research Society will win!" chimed in Ryoko, dressed in a similar manner.
Sui sighed. Are they just here to grab more spoils?
"Haha, Sui, do your best today as well," Megumi said with an awkward smile.
"Well then, let's get going," Sui replied with a nod.
However, today was shaping up to be far more chaotic than the day before. Other research societies had now joined the fray. After hearing about Sui's victories and the valuable items he had won, other societies wanted a piece of the action and had started challenging one another.
"The Skewers Research Society! Do you dare to challenge our Dairy Research Society?"
"Do you have the guts to have a Shokugeki in your activity room?"
Throughout the school, such confrontational voices could be heard. The once peaceful atmosphere had evaporated, and now, every research society was on edge, fearing an unexpected challenge from a rival group.
"Alright! Let's work hard to dominate Totsuki today!" Alice declared, waving her small flag. "The Molecular Gastronomy Research Society will win!"
Turning to her follower, Alice frowned. "Hey, Ryo-kun, show some enthusiasm! Sui won six matches yesterday—we need to step up our game!"
"Oh. The Molecular Gastronomy Research Society will win," Ryo responded, rather unenthusiastically.
At the same time, Sui led Miyoko and the others to defeat three more research societies.
"Awesome! We've cleared Building D! Should we move on to the next one?" Yoshino asked excitedly, holding her small flag high. Behind her, Megumi and Ryoko also carried flags, acting as their cheering squad.
"Sure," Sui nodded. He only needed to win one more match to complete his mission.
As they approached another building, they noticed something unusual.
"Oh no! It's the Rare Ingredients Research Society! Quick, close the door!"
"Pretend we're not here!"
The members of the research society inside quickly slammed the door shut, pretending the room was empty as soon as they spotted Sui and his team approaching.
"Are we really that terrifying now?" Sui sighed.
"Cowards! Totsuki doesn't need students like you!" Yoshino yelled angrily.
Just then, they arrived at the door of another research society.
"Soba Noodle Research Society?"
The Soba Noodle Research Society was the only research institute that hadn't shut its doors.
"Well, let's make this the final one," Sui said decisively.
However, upon seeing Sui and his group approaching, chaos broke out inside the room.
"Oh no! It's the Rare Ingredients Research Society!" one of the members cried out in panic.
"What? That band of kitchen thieves? Hide the new utensils, quick! Don't let them see them!"
"Where's that batch of premium pork we just bought? Stash it away before they get here!"
The room erupted in frantic movement as members scrambled to hide their valuable items.
Sui was speechless. Have we really gained a reputation as bandits?
"Don't even think about it! Everything here is ours!" Yoshino rushed in, her voice loud and commanding.
"That's right! All of these are our spoils!" added Ryoko, following closely behind.
Yoshino brandished a flag that read "The Rare Ingredients Research Society Will Win," charging in like a general leading an army.
Subaru, Sōma, and the rest of the group followed with equal determination.
Sui: …Is it these guys that ruined our research society's reputation?
"Do you really think you can barge into the Soba Noodle Research Society like this?" one of the society members said sternly. "Do you even know who our leader is?"
"Enough with the noise," came a soft voice.
A girl with twin pigtails, round glasses, a delicate appearance, and a quiet temperament was kneading dough. She glanced at the commotion but didn't seem particularly fazed.
"Huh? Wait, you're... Kinokuni -senpai!" Yoshino, who had been charging in with all the force of a bandit leader, suddenly froze in place.
Behind her, Miyoko, Subaru, and the others stiffened, realizing who they were up against.
They hadn't expected to find Kinokuni Nene, one of the Elite Ten, here.
"Since yesterday, this entire building has been a mess, so noisy that I can't focus on my soba experiments. Are you the ones responsible for all this chaos?" Nene set the dough aside, calmly washing her hands before turning to Sui. Her crimson eyes narrowed as she gazed at him.
"Well, yes. Since yesterday, our Rare Ingredients Research Society has been challenging other research societies. Isn't this something the school encourages?" Sui responded.
Nene nodded. "True," she admitted. "But I preferred the quiet before all this commotion. What's it going to take to stop the unrest? Do you want us to settle this with a match?"
"We only need to win one more battle," Sui said calmly.
They had already won nine matches. One more, and they would achieve their goal.
"In that case, the Soba Noodle Research Society will be your final opponent," Nene said coldly. "How about it? If you lose, leave us alone and stop disturbing the academy's peace. If you win, you can take anything from this research society."
"If you think you can pick a fight with us, I suggest you leave now," another member of the Soba Noodle Research Society warned.
"Exactly. Just because you beat Eizan-senpai doesn't mean you can defeat Kinokuni-senpai," another member added.
Yoshino leaned in close to Sui, her voice barely a whisper. "Sui, maybe we should try a different research society. This one might be too much for us."
Sui hesitated for a moment, considering her words, then nodded. "No, it's settled. We'll face them."
Apart from wanting to finish his mission, Sui was curious to gauge his current strength.
After all, Kinokuni Nene was ranked sixth among the Elite Ten. However, rankings alone didn't always reflect the true ability of the top students. Sui knew that Isshiki Satoshi, who held the seventh seat, had the skills to challenge the top five, and that Erina, ranked tenth, was far stronger than her position suggested.
"Very well," Kinokuni Nene said with a nod. "If you lose, you are never to challenge another research society again. If you win, you can claim anything from our Soba Noodle Research Society."
"Agreed. What's the theme?" Sui asked.
"I'll leave that to you," Kinokuni Nene replied calmly.
"In that case…" Sui thought for a moment before smiling. "Let's make it Soba."
"Soba?" Kinokuni Nene's eyes flashed with a sharp, cold glint.
Miyoko, Subaru, and the others were visibly surprised. After all, Nene was a master of soba noodles.
"Haha! Are you seriously challenging Kinokuni-senpai, from the renowned Kanda Soba restaurant, to a soba competition?" a member of the Soba Noodle Research Society scoffed.
"You're clearly overestimating yourself," another added, sneering.
"Alright then. Let's schedule the match for tomorrow," Nene said icily.
Soon, both teams submitted their Shokugeki applications to the academy's Shokugeki Authority.
The head of Totsuki Academy, Senzaemon, quickly received the report.
"So, you're eager to challenge the Elite Ten and prove yourself, are you?" Senzaemon mused with a faint smile. "Very well, let's see just how much potential you have."
In no time, the news of Sui's upcoming match against Kinokuni Nene, the sixth seat of the Elite Ten, spread like wildfire throughout the academy.
Even the intense battles between other research societies came to a halt as everyone focused on this new development.
The entire school was abuzz with shock and anticipation.
…
"Sui, are you sure about this? If the theme is Soba?" Miyoko asked when they returned to the Rare Ingredients Research Society.
"Well, I have some confidence, but not much," Sui admitted, deep in thought.
Megumi encouraged him with a bright smile. "Sui-kun, you have to give it your all!"
"Yeah. Of course," Sui replied with a smile of his own.
"In that case, let me be your training partner," Subaru said, stepping forward.
"Huh? You?" Sui asked in surprise.
"Yes. I've done extensive 'fantasy training' to simulate matches against the Elite Ten. I thought I'd never have a chance to use it, but it looks like this is the perfect opportunity," Subaru replied, a sly grin creeping across his face.
[A-Note: I'm aiming to break into the Top 3, or even claim the #1 spot in the all-time rankings. To achieve this, I'm changing my strategy: instead of releasing 2 chapters for every 300+ stones, I'll now drop a mass release of 10 chapters each time the goal is met!
So, almighty Power Stones—grant me your strength!
Power Stones = Mass Release
GOAL = 1000 power stones!
Let's make it happen!]
