Silence befalls the chamber and with a chill that makes me noticeably shiver. Eryx's hand reaches my thigh under the table and I shift only a little in my seat at his touch, and shoot a glare in his direction. Subtly, the hands in my lap smack at his.

Eryx does not yield but he starts to stroke my knee, create small circles, reminding me of a dream. Internally I shake my head. This is not the time. What is he doing?!

Its only when flames begin to lick up my thigh, warming my belly and coast along my spine I realise he is subtly warming me. A smug smile curls at his lips when our eyes meet but it drops instantly as everyone's attention is on us, on him.

"Returning…" Cohnal scoffs, breaking the silence. "They never left. That is why we were told the stories."
