The next day, Leonica had taken just about enough time out from her work schedule to have Ashley taken to school by herself.

As they pulled up in the parking lot of his school and Leonica gathered his bag and lunch box, the boy turned to face her.

“Mommy?” He called out to her.

“Yes darling?” Leonica answered all the while trying to ensure that she had packed everything he’d need for the school day, earlier in the morning.

“When can I go and see daddy again?”

She halted at his question and looked at him. “What?”

“I haven’t seen daddy in a long while,” Well, not long, just the last two weeks she had stopped him from visiting Gabriel because she thought his chances of waking up were growing slimmer with each passing day. In short, her intention was to make sure the younger boy wouldn’t be hurt when his father didn’t wake up any longer. And she also hoped that slowly, he’d grown to forget about Gabriel.
