Bab 267: Chapter 267: Foundations of a Future

Lott grumbled inwardly as he reeled in his fishing line. He wasn't expecting much, but he was still curious about his catch. When he pulled up the line, he was surprised to see three old books attached to it.

"Three books? And they look ancient! Just my luck…" he muttered, feeling disappointed at first.

He nearly dismissed the books as insignificant and was ready to toss them aside. But something made him pause, and he decided to take a closer look. As he read the titles, his eyes widened in shock.

"Oh my God, these are…!" he exclaimed, almost dropping them in astonishment.

"These are not just any books. They're more valuable than any divine weapon! This is… the true art of dragon-slaying!"

The titles of the three books stared back at him in familiar Chinese characters: Friends of Military and Civilian Talents, Friends of Military and Civilian Talents Continued, and Handbook of Barefoot Doctors.

These weren't just any books—they were the foundations of an entire nation.

Especially in this era.

The medical knowledge of this time was rudimentary at best, even for the nobility, and was almost non-existent among the common folk. In remote places like the Scottish Highlands, medical understanding was even worse. The Handbook of Barefoot Doctors played a crucial role in the founding of New China, saving countless lives by teaching practical medical knowledge in a simple, accessible way.

Lott realized that if he could disseminate the medical knowledge from this book across Britain, it would revolutionize healthcare. Fewer people would die from preventable diseases, and this would lead to a significant increase in the population.

More people meant more farmers to cultivate the land and more soldiers to defend it. It would also help integrate newly conquered territories by improving their quality of life and health.

The other two books, Friends of Military and Civilian Talents, and their sequel were even more extraordinary.

These books were designed to help rebuild civilization from scratch, containing everything one needed to know to survive and thrive in a post-apocalyptic world. From building tanks and planes to planting crops and raising livestock, from repairing engines to cooking meals—these books covered it all.

"Friends of Military and Civilian Talents," Lott whispered, his excitement growing. This wasn't just a book; it was a comprehensive manual for restarting civilization. Compiled by the Chinese government, it was intended to help survivors rebuild society in the aftermath of a nuclear war.

The scope of its contents was staggering, covering everything from military tactics and survival skills to farming, engineering, and even culinary arts. It was designed to be accessible to anyone, regardless of their education or background.

Lott couldn't believe his luck. These books were exactly what Camelot needed. With them, he and Morgan could guide their kingdom from a primitive feudal society into a modern, industrialized one. It was a monumental task, but not impossible, especially with these guides.

"Industrialization in the fifth century… this is going to be insane," Lott chuckled to himself. "It's crazier than anything I've ever done in Civilization VI."

A nation doesn't progress simply by introducing advanced technology to a primitive society. Without the fundamental knowledge and infrastructure to support it, even the most sophisticated devices would be nothing more than curiosities. But with these books, Lott had the blueprint to build that foundation from the ground up.

The books outlined how to develop modern science, step-by-step, from agriculture to metallurgy, from simple tools to complex machinery. This knowledge was more valuable than any magical artifact, which could only empower a single individual.

Camelot had no shortage of powerful knights and warriors. What they needed now was the knowledge to uplift the entire society.

"If we can achieve even a fraction of this," Lott thought, "we'll have the means to defend ourselves against anything—even the will of Gaia."

He imagined Camelot equipped with the technology of a future age, its armies armed with weapons that no opponent could withstand. The mere thought filled him with hope and determination.

This is for the people of Camelot, he reminded himself. We won't let Gaia or any other force destroy what we've built.

With that resolve, he turned and made his way back to the camp, his heart brimming with excitement for the future.

Lott returned to the lounge, where Morgan and Gawain were relaxing. Morgan sat with a cup of coffee in her hand, watching with a smile as Gawain struggled with paperwork at the desk.

"Ugh, I hate this!" Gawain groaned, throwing her pen down in frustration. "Mom, I'd rather be out on the battlefield than doing this! Just let me go fight someone!"

Morgan chuckled, clearly enjoying her daughter's discomfort. "You can't escape it, Gawain. You need to learn how to manage these things."

Gawain threw her hands up in exasperation. "Can't we just let Agravain handle all this? He's the one who enjoys dealing with documents and bureaucracy, not me!"

Morgan raised an eyebrow. "He's only eight months old, Gawain. Are you serious?"

Gawain pouted, crossing her arms defensively. "Well, what about my lands? Can't someone else handle that?"

Morgan shook her head, her expression turning serious. "No, Gawain. Camelot's territory will only expand. One day, you will have to manage vast regions on your own. You need to be prepared."

"What?!" Gawain yelped, clearly horrified at the thought of being responsible for so much.

Just then, Lott entered the room with the books in his hands.

"Huh? What's that?" Morgan asked, noticing the books he carried. She knew Lott often went fishing for unique items, but these looked different.

"These are no ordinary books. They're divine texts," Lott said, his tone serious as he handed the books to Morgan and Gawain.

Morgan and Gawain looked at the books, their faces puzzled as they tried to make sense of the unfamiliar Chinese characters.

"Divine texts?" Gawain asked, tilting her head in confusion. "Are there cultivation techniques written in here?"

"No, it's even more important than that," Lott replied, shaking his head.

He then began to explain the significance of the books—their role in rebuilding a civilization, in transforming a society from the ground up. He shared how they could revolutionize healthcare, agriculture, and industry.

He left out certain details, such as the content about nuclear defense, but the core message was clear.

When he finished, Gawain looked at him, still puzzled. "But what's so special about this? None of this sounds as powerful as my Galatine."

Lott and Morgan remained silent, their expressions serious. Gawain realized that they weren't laughing. For once, they were treating this with the utmost gravity.

"Are you sure this is real?" Morgan asked, her voice trembling slightly with excitement.

"Yes, I'm sure," Lott confirmed. "These books can help us build a future beyond what anyone has ever imagined."

Morgan looked at the books again, this time with awe. The potential they held, the possibilities they could unlock—it was overwhelming.

"This is… this could change everything," she murmured, her mind racing with the implications.

Gawain, finally understanding the gravity of the situation, nodded slowly. "If this is true, then we could build something extraordinary."

Lott smiled. "Yes, we can. This is just the beginning."
