Bab 77: Chapter 77: Disaster Beast

---

"This..."

The middle-aged woman in the house fell into deep thought after hearing Gary, Rosa, and Hilda's request for accommodation.

She didn't know what kind of people they were, so she hesitated for a moment. However, when she noticed that they were just a few young trainers, she made up her mind.

"It's no problem to stay overnight."

With that, the middle-aged woman opened the door and motioned for Gary and the others to come in.

"Thank you!"

After politely thanking her, Gary and the others stepped inside the house.

Once she confirmed that they were just passing trainers, the woman, whose name was Minako, felt relieved and warmly entertained them.

"By the way, I heard you're going to challenge our Hoenn League."

As the conversation continued, Gary, Rosa, and Hilda grew closer to Minako, and they had many more topics to chat about.

"Yes, we're preparing to participate in this year's Hoenn Conference," Rosa said, smiling and nodding.

"That's great!"

Minako beamed at the news. Then she seemed to remember something and added, "My son, Nobuna, is a rookie trainer this year. Like you, after receiving his starter Pokémon, he set off on a journey to challenge the Hoenn League."

"Is that so?"

Rosa nodded thoughtfully and continued, "Maybe I'll get lucky and meet your son at the Hoenn Conference."

"If that happens, it would be wonderful!"

Minako smiled, her pride evident. "Nobuna has always been a bit of a troublemaker and his grades aren't the best, so if he can participate in the Hoenn Conference, it would be a blessing."

Although Minako was speaking about her son's shortcomings, the kindness in her eyes was genuine.

"Aunt Minako, that's not a certainty. You might see Nobuna on the stage at the Hoenn Conference next time," Gary said, offering encouragement with a smile.

"That would be amazing!"

Minako's impression of Gary improved as she noted his kind words, and her smile became more pronounced.

As Gary and the others continued to chat with Minako, they talked about their journey and shared stories, while she proudly introduced Nobuna to them.

They chatted late into the night, and if it weren't for the hour, they probably would have talked even longer.

---

Time always seems to fly by. In the blink of an eye, it was already the next morning.

When the alarm on Gary's phone went off, he and the others quickly got out of bed, changed clothes, and prepared to wash up. Minako was in the kitchen making breakfast and greeted them with a smile when she saw them.

"Gary, Rosa, Hilda! You're up! Hurry, wash up and come have breakfast!"

"Okay!"

The trio quickly finished washing up, then joined Minako at the dining table to enjoy breakfast together.

Just as they were finishing up, a commotion outside caught their attention.

"Hurry! It's coming again! We need to drive it away!"

The noise from outside instantly grabbed Gary and the others' focus. They set down their chopsticks and looked at Minako.

"Aunt Minako, what's happening? Why is it so noisy outside?" Gary asked.

"Yeah, what's going on?" Rosa added, curious as usual.

Hilda, though silent, looked at Minako with questioning eyes.

"From the sound of it, it should be the disaster beast," Minako replied, recalling the noise.

"Disaster beast?"

Rosa and Hilda exchanged puzzled glances.

"Aunt Minako, you mean Absol, right?" Gary asked, immediately picturing the white figure of Absol in his mind.

"Yes, that's right."

Minako nodded, confirming Gary's guess.

"But how could Absol be a disaster beast?" Rosa and Hilda both expressed their disbelief. They had heard many things about Absol, but in today's digital age, opinions about it had likely changed.

"I know it too, but the people in the village don't believe it!" Minako sighed. She explained that her village was located at the foot of Mt. Chimney in the Hoenn region.

Though not completely isolated from the outside world, it had minimal contact with it.

In recent years, most of the young people had left the village, leaving behind only stubborn middle-aged and elderly residents.

For a long time, everything had been developing quietly until one day, something changed.

On that day, Absol appeared in the village. Initially, the villagers didn't think much of it; they considered it just another Pokémon.

However, as time passed, they noticed a pattern: whenever a disaster struck, Absol was seen nearby.

If it had happened once or twice, they might have dismissed it as coincidence, but the consistent appearances of Absol made the less-informed villagers believe that the disasters were caused by the Pokémon. So whenever Absol showed up, the villagers armed themselves to drive it away.

"Aunt Minako, if you know Absol isn't a disaster beast, why don't you explain that to the villagers?" Rosa asked, raising a valid point after hearing Minako's story.

"Well..."

Minako hesitated, contemplating how to respond.
