"Gary, didn't Mr. Steven mention that Sidney of the Elite Four is near Lilycove City?"
The day after challenging the Lilycove Gym, Gary, Hilda, and Rosa were walking through the streets of Lilycove City. Hilda suddenly turned back and asked Gary, her eyes also fixed on the suitcase in his hand.
"But how can we find Sidney?"
"I really don't know where he is," Gary admitted, recalling that Steven hadn't specified Sidney's location in Lilycove City.
"Why don't we contact Mr. Steven now?" Rosa suggested, standing nearby.
"That's the only option we have right now!" Gary nodded in agreement with Rosa's idea.
"Then Gary, you should hurry and contact Mr. Steven. After we hand over this meteorite to Sidney, we still need to continue our journey," Hilda said, eager to challenge the next Gym. The success of their previous Gym challenges had made her a bit impatient.
"Okay."
After saying that, Gary quickly took out his mobile phone.
Just as Gary was about to call Steven, a somewhat arrogant voice interrupted him and his companions.
"Are you looking for me? Oh my, it's so touching!"
They turned around to see a cocky young man in a black leather jacket with spiky burgundy hair, smiling at them.
"Are you Sidney?"
Staring at the flamboyant figure before him, Gary was momentarily incredulous.
"Yes, it's me," Sidney replied, striking a pose he deemed cool.
"Okay."
Hilda and Rosa exchanged glances, struggling to accept Sidney's demeanor. Hilda managed to keep a friendly attitude despite her disbelief.
Gary stepped forward and introduced himself briefly: "Hello, Sidney, I'm Gary from Pallet Town."
"We're Hilda and Rosa from the Unova region!"
After Hilda and Rosa collected themselves, they introduced themselves, their expressions reflecting their complicated feelings toward Sidney.
"I know you. Steven has already mentioned you to me," Sidney said, waving a hand dismissively.
"So, you came here to deliver the meteorite?"
Gary nodded, recalling what Steven had mentioned earlier.
"Yes, I've been waiting for you in Lilycove City for a long time."
Returning to the topic at hand, Sidney retracted his playful attitude and nodded solemnly.
"I'll leave this meteorite to you, Sidney."
Gary handed the suitcase containing the meteorite to Sidney.
"Alright."
Sidney quickly took the suitcase, opened the box, and confirmed that it contained the meteorite before closing it again.
"I have decided to hand this meteorite over to the Hoenn League."
After receiving the meteorite, Sidney looked up at Gary and the others, nodding as he spoke.
"Thank you, Sidney."
Gary nodded, feeling relieved after handing over the meteorite. They didn't want to attract the attention of Team Magma because of this; after all, it could lead to trouble. At that moment, Gary realized he didn't have the strength to face Team Magma, intensifying his desire to become stronger.
With his determination growing, Gary looked up at Sidney, who was about to leave with the suitcase.
"Sidney, I have something to ask you."
"Oh, what is it?" Sidney turned back, intrigued.
"Gary, you..."
Hilda and Rosa seemed to have anticipated Gary's intent, directing their attention to him.
"I want to battle you, Sidney."
Facing Sidney's gaze, Gary made his request without hesitation.
"Oh, you want to battle?"
Sidney's interest piqued as he observed Gary's fighting spirit.
"I've heard about you from Steven. I know your strength," Sidney continued, looking at Gary with intrigue. "Since you've asked, I'd like to see the power of the Trainer praised by Steven!"
"Thank you, Sidney!"
Upon hearing Sidney's agreement, Gary felt a surge of excitement. Hilda and Rosa also wore expectant expressions, looking forward to the battle between Gary and Sidney.
"However, this place is too crowded for a battle. Let's move to a more suitable location," Sidney suggested, glancing around the bustling streets.
"Of course."
Gary had no objections to the change of venue. "It's just that we just arrived in Lilycove City, so we're not very familiar with it."
"Fortunately, I know a good spot. Follow me."
With that, Sidney, suitcase in hand, took the lead, walking confidently ahead.
"Let's go!"
After exchanging glances with Hilda and Rosa, Gary encouraged them to follow.

After a short walk, they arrived at a secluded park in Lilycove City. The park featured a spacious area perfect for battling.
"How's this place?"
Sidney surveyed the surroundings and asked Gary and the others.
"It's great!"
Gary replied, pleased with the sparsely populated park.
"Then let's begin the battle!"
Sidney focused his attention on Gary.
"Okay!"
