Bab 91: Chapter 91: Hostage.
"Don't move, both of you stay together, and stay within my line of sight!"
"Don't make any moves that could cause a misunderstanding, otherwise, I will definitely kill this little girl before I die!"
As he spoke, he also looked crazily at Uchiha Tetsu and Toshiro.
To indirectly express his seriousness, he tightened his grip on the kunai, pressing the sharp blade closer to Homura's slender, white neck. A thin red line appeared on her neck as the blade touched her skin.
At this moment, Toshiro slowly spread his arms and walked towards Tetsu, doing so as gently as possible to appear non-threatening and avoid provoking the nameless robber. Meanwhile, he observed his companion's condition.
Tetsu had completely lost his calm and was currently hesitating whether to forcibly rescue Homura or not. However, he did not have absolute confidence that he could save her safely. In his panic, he was like an ant in a hot pan or a headless fly, completely at a loss.
The group of women moving the debris were also scared by the sudden turn of events and scattered in chaos, clutching their heads.
Uchiha Homura, after the initial panic, displayed the calmness expected of an Uchiha.
"Toshiro! Kill him!"
"Don't worry about me!"
When she said this, Uchiha Homura's expression was strikingly calm, showing no fear of the imminent death. Truly worthy of being an Uchiha woman! In such a critical moment, she actually displayed a unique calmness, or rather, coldness.
"Shut up!"
The bandit leader was terrified upon hearing these words. If the two ninjas opposite him really listened to the girl's words, he had no confidence that he could keep his life.
"You two, tie yourselves up and stay where you are!"
As he said this, he tightened his grip on the weapon again, causing a thin line of red blood to slowly drip from Homura's neck.
He had already planned that once the two ninjas tied themselves up, he would take the 'little girl' and escape through a prepared escape route. He also kicked his fallen comrade at his feet a couple of times.
If he were alone, accidents might happen along the way. Having a trusted subordinate beside him could help look out for him. Even if not of much use, at critical moments, the subordinate could block a blade for him!
However, things did not go as planned. Despite kicking his comrade several times, the person lying on the ground showed no response, making his plan to bring a helper a failure.
Toshiro and his companions had little experience in this. The 'tranquilizers' they prepared had no issues and worked well on ordinary people. The problem was that they didn't anticipate a bandit among the group having chakra.
Toshiro and Tetsu, by hesitating and being conflicted about 'killing', wasted too much time, allowing the drug's effect to wear off gradually.
Homura, under renewed threat, showed no fear, only a calm face looking at Toshiro, from which Toshiro read a deeper meaning: 'Act'.
The reason Homura was directing her instructions to Toshiro rather than Tetsu was that she knew Tetsu, the fool, would not follow her intentions.
"Hurry! Do as I say, or this little girl in my hands won't survive!"
Seeing his subordinate unresponsive, he stopped worrying about it and shouted loudly at Toshiro and Tetsu. He had already planned to take the little ninja along a pre-planned escape route once he made it there. He intended to push the little ninja towards a cliff while detonating the explosive tags on her.
This wouldn't necessarily kill the little ninja, but it would buy him time. By that time, whether he managed to escape successfully or got caught would depend on his luck.
Thankfully, the escape route led to a small river. With it, he still had a chance to escape. Water, that mysterious element, could mask his tracks, no matter how skilled these ninjas were.
Initially, he thought of waking up more of his bandit comrades to gain strength in numbers, but this plan was now impossible. These damned ninjas had used some means to make them unconscious, unable to wake up no matter what.
"Don't get excited! If your hand slips, it will be bad for both sides!"
The bandit was overly agitated. If he slipped, the consequences would be too serious. Helplessly, Toshiro had to remind him, fearing that an accident would cause an undesired outcome.
To calm him, Toshiro slowly picked up a belt from the ground, testing its firmness before waving it in front of the bandit to show its strength.
"Tetsu! Why are you still standing there? Do as the 'big brother' says!"
After testing the belt, he looked at Uchiha Tetsu and signaled to him.
He felt speechless towards his partner, who stood there stiffly at such a critical moment, unable to control his facial expressions. It was not the time for him to be stunned!
Perhaps due to inexperience, he panicked at the sudden change.
Awakened by Toshiro's words, Uchiha Tetsu quickly mimicked Toshiro's actions.
