It turned out to be a magical parasite, crafted by a Paragon or Demigod demon mage. Had the Princess consumed it, she would have fallen entirely under the demon's control.

Although the deans wished to keep this news from spreading, it was an impossible task.

They had to inform the royal family about the events and their implications. Furthermore, since all the students present at the party were aware of what transpired and who had first uncovered the plot, concealing the truth was out of the question.
