Bab 163: Melodrama

The door creaked open, and there they were: Amara's parents, along with the doctor. The timing couldn't have been worse. Just as Amara and Elara had managed to steal a moment for themselves, reality came crashing back in. Amara groaned audibly, her face a mix of exasperation and resigned humor.

"Well, this is awkward," she muttered, staring at her mother and father like they were the inconvenient relatives who always showed up uninvited to the party. "You couldn't have waited five more minutes, could you?"

Her mother, Helena, looked unfazed. "Amara, you've been unconscious for hours, and now you want us to wait for a 'five more minutes' moment?"
