Charlotte stood before the mirror, washing her face, her heart pounding in anxiety.
"now for the next part," she whispered, steeling herself. Earlier, she'd planned to cook his favorite meal before she would get down to discuss the main reason she came to his house.
"You can do this," she encouraged herself, tapping her chest as she stepped out of the restroom.
As she entered the dining room, she found Sebastian sitting upright, awaiting her arrival. His poised demeanor belied the haste with which he'd returned to his seat, prompted by the sound of her approaching footsteps.
"You didn't sneak a peek into the kitchen, did you, Mr. Sebastian?" Charlotte asked, a playful glint in her eye.
Sebastian smiled warmly, shaking his head. "No, I didn't."
Charlotte nodded, taking her seat across from him. "Try the soup and tell me how it tastes." Her voice trembled with expectations.
