I still didn't know what she meant by taking the matebond back, but all I could think about was that I was the only one who could break the curse.

Standing up and letting go of Hayden’s hand, I moved toward the old lady, knelt before her, and grasped her hands as if they were my lifeline.

“Tell me…” I said with a trembling voice.

The old lady chuckled and withdrew one of her hands to pat mine.

“You don't have to be so worried about it, child,” she said in a soothing voice.

“It’s quite simple to break the curse,” she said and added, “All you need to do is to pray to the Moon Goddess to get your matebond back.”

I breathed a sigh of relief.
