Bab 2: Chapter 1

Age:10

Time: 7:45 AM

"Violet, come down, breakfast is ready," Mom's voice echoed through the house, urging Violet to start her day.

Rushing downstairs, Violet grabbed her school bag, stealing one last glance in the mirror before heading to the kitchen.

"It's 7:45 already. Come on, eat quickly and get going," Mom said, her voice filled with morning cheer.

Violet's heart swelled with gratitude as she sat down for breakfast. Her parents' love was the cornerstone of her happiness, making each day feel like a fairy tale.

With a smile on her face, Violet savored the simple joys of family and love, grateful for the warmth that surrounded her.

As she finished her meal and prepared to leave for school, Violet felt a sense of contentment wash over her. In her parents' embrace, she found solace and strength, ready to face whatever the day had in store.

With a contented sigh, Violet marveled at the warmth of her family's embrace and the simple joys of everyday life. Her days were filled with laughter, love, and the reassuring comfort of her parents' presence.

As she polished off her breakfast, Violet hurried out the door, racing against the clock to make it to school just in the nick of time. Her heart brimmed with gratitude for the wonderful life she led.

At 4:00 PM, the school grounds were bathed in the gentle glow of the afternoon sun, surrounded by a lush canopy of trees. The tranquil ambiance was filled with the melodious chirping of birds, lending an air of serenity to the surroundings.

As the final bell rang, signaling the end of another school day, Violet emerged from the halls and made her way to the nearby lake. Nestled amidst the verdant foliage, the lake offered a sanctuary of peace and tranquility. Violet settled down by the water's edge, using her bag as a makeshift pillow.

With the vast expanse of the azure sky above her and the verdant greenery enveloping her, Violet closed her eyes, allowing the gentle breeze to caress her skin. The rhythmic lullaby of the rippling water lulled her into a state of blissful relaxation, and soon, she found herself drifting off into a peaceful slumber.

At 6:00 PM, as the sun began its descent, Violet stirred from her peaceful slumber by the lake, feeling a gentle sensation against her cheek.

"Someone's kissing me... It's tickling," she murmured groggily, blinking open her eyes to find a small animal near her face. Startled, she recoiled slightly before realizing it was a tiny puppy.

"Oh my god... You scared me," she chuckled softly, taking a moment to catch her breath. Extending her hand, she beckoned the puppy closer, and it eagerly bounded into her arms.

"Are you hungry, my baby?" Violet cooed, gently petting the puppy's fur. "I'll take you home and feed you."

Glancing at her pocket watch, she gasped at the time and realized she was running late. Hastily gathering her belongings, she cradled the puppy in one arm and dashed towards home.

Arriving at the gate, she found her mother waiting with a mix of concern and annoyance etched on her face.

"You're late again, Violet," her mother scolded, her voice tinged with exasperation. "Did you sleep near the lake again? Look at you... You look so disheveled."

Violet hung her head sheepishly, offering a murmured apology. Her mother softened slightly, her tone shifting as she issued a final warning.

"This is the last warning... Next time, don't come home late. Now go take a bath. I've already filled the tub with hot water and cooked all your favorites."

Overjoyed by her mother's kindness, Violet's face lit up with a grateful smile. "Thank you!" she exclaimed, preparing to dart inside. But her excitement was momentarily dampened by her mother's stern inquiry about the puppy.

"Violet," her mother called out, a hint of annoyance in her voice. "What did you bring home this time?"

Undeterred, Violet pleaded with her mother, her eyes shining with hope. "Mom, I'm really sorry, but just look at his face... He's so cute, and he's so hungry. Please, I want to raise him. Please, Mom... Please..."

After a moment's hesitation, her mother relented. "Okay, okay... First, take it to the bath along with you," she conceded, watching as Violet bounded inside, her newfound furry friend in tow.

Every day is happy... Until I had that nightmare,

Violet, she rushed home from school.

Arriving at her house, she was met with a scene of chaos. A crowd had gathered outside, and Violet's heart raced with fear as she pushed her way through to the gate. What she saw next shattered her world.

Her mother lay motionless on the ground, blood staining her face and clothes. Shock and anguish flooded Violet as she dropped to her knees beside her mother, shaking her desperately.

"Mom... Mom, what happened? Wake up!" she cried, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Her father sat nearby, his face expressionless yet tears betraying his silent grief. The weight of the moment pressed heavily on Violet as she grappled with the horrifying reality before her.

Flashback:

"Dear, I'm going outside for a bit," Nandini's mother announced to her father, a freelance writer at the top of his industry.

"For what?" he inquired, turning towards her.

"Violet has been asking for a doll for so long... Her birthday is coming up, so I thought we could gift it to her! I'm going to town," she explained.

"Be careful, it's already dark outside... Or do you want me to come with you?" he offered, concern evident in his voice.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine. Dinner is already cooked, so if you're hungry, just eat it, okay? Bye," she said, waving as she left the house.

She reached the shop, but to her dismay, the doll was already sold out. Determined to find it, she visited several other shops and locations until she finally located the doll and began her journey back home.

As Violet's mother made her way back home, her arms cradling the precious doll she had searched so tirelessly for, fate dealt a cruel hand. A large truck, its brakes failing, careened out of control, hurtling towards her on the narrow walkway.

In a split second, the peaceful evening was shattered. The truck slammed into Violet's mother with terrifying force, sending her and the doll flying through the air. The impact was deafening, the sound of metal on metal reverberating through the quiet streets.

Violet's mother was thrown violently against a nearby pole, her body twisting in the air before crashing to the ground with a sickening thud. Blood sprayed from the grievous wounds she had sustained upon impact, painting the pavement in a grim tableau of tragedy.

In that moment, amidst the chaos and horror, time seemed to stand still. Violet watched in horror as her mother lay motionless, her life extinguished in the blink of an eye by the cruel hand of fate. It was a scene of unimaginable devastation, one that would haunt Violet for the rest of her days.

As the night wore on, they remained by her side until dawn, when she was taken to the cemetery for her final rest. With heavy hearts, they watched as she was laid to rest, each handful of earth a painful reminder of their loss.

Life, it seemed, was never fair. Just when happiness seemed within reach, tragedy struck, changing everything in an instant. And now, it was Violet's turn to bear the weight of her mother's untimely passing, her life forever altered by the events of that fateful day.
