Loki looked at Moody with a calm look on his face, thinking about various other things while he was teaching them about the various dark curses and their counter curses.
'What did he do with the original Moody?'
With his eyes mindlessly following Moody as he performed another dark curse on a poor spider that had become the scapegoat of the scenario Loki remained focused on his thoughts.
"Do you see how the spider clenches up and tries to rip its eyes out?" Moody said, pointing at the spider that was frantically running around its little glass cage using all possible means to force out all its eyes.
Loki wanted to stop the inhumane torture of the little creature but doing so would've gotten him kicked out of class like all the other students that tried to do so before him.
So Loki just sat in his seat, observing the now twitching dead spider that had torn away its own head because of the compulsion from the charm Moody cast.
"This is what a fully powered conjunctivitis charm can do." Moody said looking at all the students with his macabre smile.
"While a normal casting of the charm powered by the simple intent to hurt your opponents' eyes will only make them swell a bit due to irritation or bleeding blood vessels, the intent to really hurt someone can allow an opponent to force you to rip your eyes out."
The class only half heard him since everyone was still traumatized by the painful dying *squeals* of the spider that was just killed before them.
"To your luck, the counter jinx to this charm is simple and easy. You've got to expel your spirituality in the shape of a flower with the chant 'Sol Flos' in a nice and confident tone like you mean it."
Everyone shivered a little when he said that because they all thought back to the last class when he'd made them all perform a small dance by using the Imperius curse.
Even Draco had a frown on his face.
"Harry Potter! You're first!" Moody shouted and the class began.
Harry stood up with slightly shaky legs, wondering if his already bad eyesight would just become worse with what was about to be done to him.
Standing in front of the class with his wand out, Harry looked at Moody with full focus not wanting to be jumped with the curse when he least expected it.
"Constant vigilance! Good! You're learning! This is go-! Furca Oculus!!" Moody barked at the end of his sentence, catching Harry off guard.
But surprising everyone, Harry reacted quickly, "Sol Flos!!"
An invisible shield rippled over Harry's eyes as it clashed with the purple blob of light that shot off the end of Moody's wand.
Both Harry and Moody supplied spirituality to their spells for a few seconds, sending colourful sparks all around the class for a bit before Moody retracted his spell.
"Good, good. At least no one will be able to blind you soon." Moody said with a nod.
Soon students were called to the front of the class one by one, with none of them having to face the spell at the intensity Harry did.
The last student to be called was-
"Loki." Moody said with a slight annoyance in his tone.
"Greetings Professor.", Loki said with a sweet smile while looking at Moody as if he were a kind old man who was waiting to cross the street. "Are you sure you can still cast the curse professor?"
"You don't need to pity me you foo-"
Loki wordlessly waved his wand and conjured the invisible shield in front of his eyes that clashed with Moody's spellwork and blocked it from striking his eyes.
As Moody held the spell, Loki spoke calmly as if he wasn't worried about being attacked at all, "I didn't mean to pity you, professor! I was just wondering if you really even knew how to cast the curse at all! I mean none of the students you tried the curse on ever failed to block you.."
The air in the room turned tense and Loki felt Moody's spellwork strengthen for a second before he pulled it back and stopped attacking Loki.
"Trying to distract your opponent while trying to curse them yourself is a fantastic method to use to take down the opponent. Well done."
Class ended with that and Loki walked along with the remaining students to the Transfiguration courtyard since it was October 30th and the other schools were arriving at Hogwarts today.
Waiting with all the students in the courtyard Loki looked onward at the empty castle grounds, wondering how the students from the other schools would arrive.
'Fleur was a part of Beauxbatons, right? Will she be arriving to participate in the tournament too? But just imagining her doing something for the satisfaction of an audience feels wrong…'
'She'd probably ask them to shut up to let her focus on the competition instead of thanking them for their cheers.'
'She's rude.'
"Look!!!"
Soon in the distance, a student spotted a flying carriage and Loki along with the rest of the students followed and found a large white carriage driven by a man, pulled along by Abraxan horses invading the Hogwarts airspace.
The carriage pulled by fourteen white, winged-horses, descended towards the transfiguration courtyard and soon came to a stop with Hagrid guiding them like the flag man on a tarmac.
While Hagrid was busy calming the horses and talking to the carriage driver, the carriage door opened and a flurry of girls dressed in satin silk knee-length dress skirts emerged out of it.
After them walked out a half-giantess who was so tall, even Dumbledore with his strange stiff-pointy flat hat reached only till her waist.
The students were already whispering about her amongst themselves and Loki managed to catch a few of them in spite of tuning them out in search of Fleur.
"Is she related to Hagrid!?"
"No way! Hagrid didn't even look at her, perhaps she met with an unfortunate magical accident like Hagrid when she was a child?"
"Possible…but I already feel like shipping them…"
"No way, no way, one's the headmistress of a world-renowned school while the other is what, a man who holds keys?"
Suddenly Loki's eyes locked with a girl who was apparently also searching for him.
"Fleur!" Loki called out softly with a smile and waved his hand but Fleur just turned her head away instantly and looked elsewhere.
"Who's she?" Hermione asked as she saw Loki look at the extremely beautiful girl and wave his hand at her.
"Oh? She? She's a Veela. Her name's Fleur."
"Veela? Like in the World Cup?"
"Hm~m." Loki nodded while Hermione frowned.
"Good evening Madam Maxime. I hope you've had a comfortable journey here?"
"Greetingz' Dumblydoore. It is my pleas'ure to be e'here. Tell whoever will take care of my horses that they like brandy and firewisky."
"I'm sure Hagrid will do a fine job at it, you needn't worry about them."
"I see."
Just as the conversation between Madam Maxime and Dumbledore came to a close a student shouted from the other end of the transfiguration courtyard, "Look! The Lake's rippling!"
