Bab 17: CHAPTER 17
I was talking with Haruichi when I notice Furuya walking up to us.
"Tsubayoshi-san I won't lose to you" Furuya stated when he's near us then going towards the batting cage with other first years before I could answer him
"Ohh it's finally his turn eh? Let's see what you got then" I said shifting my attention to Furuya who's picking a bat then doing some practice swings.
*DONGGGGG
A loud sound once again reverberated around the field as the ball once again flew outside the fence, this scene once again left everyone dumbfounded.
"Are you kidding me?"
"This guy is a pitcher too right?"
"What's up with this first years? First Tsubayoshi then this guy too?"
"Hahah what's crazy is both of them is a pitcher"
I heard others talking around me which I pay no mind as I'm watching Furuya next at bat.
3 Home runs, 2 outfield hit and 1 foul ball. This is Furuya's result during this batting test.
'blind cannon' that's what I thought as I continued watching him do his batting. Furuya is fust following his instincts when it comes to batting always swinging his bat at full power in every pitch.
'This guy is still rough around the edges but he's got the potential' I thought to myself.
"I'll get this guy to join us later Haruichi" I said to the small guy beside me.Well I've already decided to help Furuya when I've saw him pitch earlier so after seeing him bat it's pretty much decided. Furuya and Haruichi got talent so I'll just guide them a little to make use of it.
It's all up to them how much they could improve in the end. I've got this habit of mine of not wanting to see someone talented just root since I was also a coach in my last life it has been my job during that time, I guess it's really hard to get rid of something I'm so used to doing.
THIRD PERSON'S POV
Furuya is walking back towards the direction of first years now with a depressed expression evident on his face. He wanted to hit all home runs just like his fellow first year Tsubayoshi did so he's a little depressed when he didn't manage to do it.
Unknowingly to him the moment he witnessed Tsubayoshi Jiro pitched earlier during their pitching test Furuya already considered Jiro as his rival so when he saw Jiro earlier hit all home runs he wanted to replicate it too during his turn.
"Not bad, nice batting" Furuya heard Jiro voice so he looks at him and there he saw the brown and blue eyes of his rival looking at him having a smile on his lips that for some reason it sends shivers down the spine of Furuya.
"Haruichi and I would do some extra training later when practice is done, wanna join us?" Jiro asked Furuya smiling at him.
'I'm so gonna shape this guy up' Jiro thought to himself.
"Okay Tsubayoshi" Furuya just agreed to the invitation not wanting to miss out to see what is Jiro's doing that made him so much better than himself despite the shivers he's feeling when looking at Jiro's smile.
"You can just call me Jiro, we're friends now so I prefer it if you call me by my name and Ohh this is Haruichi he's also with us later" Jiro said while also pointing at the shy boy beside him.
"Friends?" Furuya is stunned. It might look like Furuya is a cold guy but he's not. Furuya is just the quiet type of guy who also wants to have friends but doesn't know how to since he's a man of few words so he's caught off guard a little when Jiro referred to him as a friend.
"Okay Jiro" Furuya said a happy aura surrounding him which stunned others at the sudden shift of mood of the guy.
While on the other side the regulars is also talking among themselves discussing the newcomers this year that they have
"Our kohai is really something else this year eh?" Ryunosuke said which Isashiki agreed saying
"They're not cute at all hmp"
While Yuki at the side once again release his competitive aura when seeing Furuya bat not wanting to lose to his kohai.
"Man we really got a handful of kohai this year" Kuramochi said to Miyuki
"Yeah you bet!" Miyuki answered looking at the direction where Jiro and Furuya stood then his gaze shifted looking at the loudmouth pitcher grumbling at the sidelines not being able to join his fellow first years.
"AHHHH EVERYONE DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME! THIS SAWAMURA EIJUN WOULD SHOW YOU WHAT I AM MADE OF TOO!" A certain loudmouth is shouting doing what to be seems of batting motion trying to get the attention of coach kataoka.
Coach kataoka just looks at him for a second then proceed to ignoring the guy as he resumed reading out the next batch of first years to be tested as there's only a couple more left.
When Miyuki and Kuramochi saw this scene they both laughed so hard that they're clutching their stomach
"AHHH BOSS DON'T IGNORE ME!"
"Boss?" Everyone is stunned when they heard what the first year refer to their coach. Takashima Rei on the sidelines is looking a little dumbfounded at the guy she scouted herself.
"HAHAHAHA"
"HAHAHAH"
Miyuki and Kuramochi laughed louder than before if that is possible when they heard sawamura while coach kataoka's eyebrows could be seen twitching as he turned to look at sawamura.
"Why did you stop running?" Kataoka ask the boy while his eyebrows is still twitching remembering how the boy address him
"OPPS" sawamura said as he resumed running around the field but when he saw his roommate Kuramochi and the catcher who deceive him this morning laughing so hard at him he can't help point at the two
"DON'T LAUGH AT ME MOCHI SENPAI! AND YOU! FOUR EYED EVIL TANUKI STOP LAUGHING!" The voice is so loud that you'll go deaf if you are near sawamura who's shouting.
"Mochi senpai?"
"Tanuki?"
Both of them stop laughing as they heard the nickname their kohai gave them
"Don't call us that brat!" Both of them shouted but the boy just turned deaf ear to his two senpai's complaint as he started running again.
Jiro was left dumbfounded at the noise the boy can make. He's never seen someone as loud as this guy in his two lifetime. He's clearly amused at the sight of the loudmouth that continued doing his punishment run as the coach instructed.
'So he's a pitcher too?' he thought.
