'Huh! Did I hear that wrong? I think my ears are bugging right now. Or maybe the lack of sleep is finally catching up with me.'

Lisa blinked a few times to refresh her mind. But her hearing did not automatically get better, nor did the situation change.

The boss was still looking at Lisa with that stern expression.

"You want me to get married? Did mother agree with you?"

It was a stupid question. Lisa's mother was someone who would do anything her lover asked her to.

She had told Lisa more than once that she would be sold once it was her time. There was no need for Lisa to seek assurance about her mother's involvement.

"Venissa doesn't know that I am planning to marry you off. But I don't think she will have any complaints once I explain the situation to her. It's only temporary, anyway. If you return to your mother within this year, she doesn't care.
