Bab 38: A load of rewards

Jesse's fingers twitched, his eyes opening to the silver rays of the moon as his body surged with energy but he could barely move from the spot where he laid, on the leaf-covered sandy ground.

Right now, Jesse was trying to process the recent happenings; he was still alive but someone else had died in his stead.

The system, leaving no space for emotions quickly steeled Jesse's mind. He pulled himself up and glanced at the mauled body, his eyes, however, were cold. Whatever guilt he was supposed to feel was quickly dispelled by the system.

-"Monster."

Like a vile curse, a voice rang out in his head and Jesse twitched. It felt like it was his first kill, it felt oddly wrong...in the most satisfying manner.

"I'm sorry..." Jesse knelt beside the familiar body, "Ric Lycoris."
