Chapter Eighty-Three: The Final Note

"I don't want it. Who knows what it's made of," Aaron King frowned in disgust. "Just take one bite, please! Please!" Lydia Moore moved closer, holding the sushi up to his lips. "No, get that away from me…" Aaron King tried to push her hand away, determined not to give in.

"Just one bite, really…" Lydia Moore coaxed him like a mother trying to placate a stubborn child. Eventually, Aaron King relented, begrudgingly opening his mouth slightly. But just as he was about to bite into the sushi, Lydia Moore swiftly pulled it back and popped it into her own mouth instead.

She dared to trick him—she was dead meat! That was Aaron King's first thought. Furious, he reached out to grab her, but she had already dashed away. "That's for forcing me to play all those games earlier. Ha!" Lydia Moore stuck her tongue out at him, then turned and darted off into the crowd like a mischievous sprite.

"Idiot!" Aaron King jumped to his feet and chased after her, but a faint smile had already crept onto his lips.

For the rest of the day, Aaron King reluctantly agreed to Lydia Moore's requests to accompany her on rides like the carousel and the rainbow swing, which he found ridiculously childish. Although he stood aloofly to the side most of the time, whenever he saw her spreading her arms wide, smiling with the pure innocence of a child, he couldn't help but feel a growing sense of happiness within him. And so, time slipped away unnoticed amidst their laughter.

The Ferris wheel turned slowly in the sky, each small cabin like a candy house filled with happiness, with dreams seemingly within reach as they revolved. Lydia Moore stood by the window, watching as she rose higher and higher above the ground, the world outside gradually expanding into a vast panorama.

"I've heard people say that those who gaze at the Ferris wheel are looking at their own happiness, and that wishes made at the top are especially likely to come true," she said, her eyes sparkling with belief. As the Ferris wheel approached its peak, she felt an inexplicable sense of nervousness.

"Only an idiot would believe something like that," Aaron King rolled his eyes. Having removed his mask, he had regained his usual rebellious charm. Suddenly, he pulled Lydia Moore close from behind, causing her to fall right into his embrace.

"What's going on?" Lydia Moore looked up at him in confusion. His face was so close to hers, his intoxicating scent enveloping her, but her heart managed to keep its usual rhythm—she only felt slightly uncomfortable. "What do you think?" Aaron King lowered his head further, his breath hot against her lips. He couldn't be thinking… Lydia Moore quickly pushed him away.

Seeing her flustered expression, Aaron King chuckled. "Idiot! What did you think I was going to do? I just wanted to take a picture." A picture? Lydia Moore turned her head in surprise.

"Click—" As the Ferris wheel reached its highest point, the camera captured Aaron King's wickedly handsome smile, Lydia Moore's dazed expression, and the serene blue-and-white landscape outside the window, freezing the moment on the screen.

Aaron King let her go and frowned as he studied the photo. "Idiot, why do you look so silly? You look awful!" He mocked her with his words, but he immediately set the photo as his phone's wallpaper, a genuine, bright smile curling up at the corners of his mouth.

"Ah—!" Lydia Moore let out a loud squeal from the Ferris wheel. "Delete it! Delete it right now!" Realizing what had happened, Lydia Moore immediately began chasing after him, unwilling to let such an unflattering photo remain on his phone. "Hey, idiot, it's just my photo, okay? Why should I delete it…" Aaron King struggled to fend off her octopus-like hands as she reached for his phone.

"You're violating my right to privacy! You can't do this!" she protested, refusing to give up.

"You're my girlfriend. This is a memento of our first date. What's wrong with that?" Aaron King suddenly blushed, his heart racing uncontrollably. But Lydia Moore didn't notice; she was still determined to reclaim his phone. In the end, Aaron King resorted to holding the phone high above his head, grinning smugly as he watched Lydia Moore hop around trying to reach it. Her face, flushed with frustration, made her look utterly adorable.

At the ticket booth below, visitors waiting for the Ferris wheel to descend looked up at the scene inside the small cabin. A girl in a light green jacket anxiously jumped around a tall, handsome boy who held his phone out of her reach, his eyes sparkling with a hint of affectionate indulgence. The sight of them together was sweet and heartwarming, with a candy-like aroma of romance gently swirling inside the Ferris wheel cabin.
