Bab 45: The Chameleon's Dance

Damien's vital gift to Avery felt like it was burning a hole in her pocket as they fought their way through the megacity's sinister underbelly. Her imagination raced with counter-accusations about what she would find in her train at Blackthorn. Who was she? What did all of this mean? 

However, there was no time to concentrate on empirical issues. They asked to disappear, and presto. 

"I know a place," Elena exclaimed as they ducked into a short alley. "An old safehouse. We should be able to lay low there for a while. 

The safe place turned out to be a run-down flat in a forgotten nook of the metropolis. As they gathered their breath, Avery's phone buzzed with a message from an unknown number. 

She read aloud, "Word is spreading presto." supposedly, we have made quite a print on the original demiworld." 

Lucas dropped."Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"
