Bab 41: Poison?

As the noblewomen dispersed, Vynessa approached with a knowing smile, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "You're doing exceptionally well, Master. The queen would love to see you tonight."

Kae narrowed his brows, suspicion swirling in his mind. Why does the queen want to see me now? he thought. He remained silent, his expression cold.

"I suppose the queen can't wait any longer," Vynessa continued, her voice warm but laced with something more.

Without replying, Kae's jaw tightened. Her smile only served to heighten his irritation, and with a stormy expression, he abruptly turned on his heel and walked away, leaving Vynessa standing speechless in his wake.

Upon reaching his chamber, Kae collapsed onto the waiting bed, the plush cushions swallowing him whole. His mind raced with unease, but he closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath.

What do you think the queen wants, System? Kae asked silently, his curiosity tempered with wariness.
