"Hide!" Felix quickly commanded when he heard gunshots coming closer.
Morris, Kael, and Cathy listened to his command at once, dashing towards the Benz-C class they broke earlier and then hiding inside it. They kept their bodies down and hidden in the dark, luckily there was no electricity to make them visible.
"Stay low," Felix said in a hushed tone, carefully looking out of the window to see the source of the gunfire.
In the dim darkness of the night, the light of the bike's headlight was plainly obvious. Felix noticed a biker gang, containing approximately 9 bikes which patrolled the area, stealing fuel from every vehicle they could find.
"Hey, what are you doing?! We need the fuel for the generator!" a middle-aged man shouted in a loud voice when he noticed the gang.
Felix's ears perked up and his hand gripped his handgun.
'That's a dumb decision. Rest in peace… Uncle Roy.' Felix shook his head.
And as if on cue, the leader of the biker's gang raised his sawed-off shotgun and without wasting any words, shot the man.
The man was turned into a sieve as many bullets bore holes into his body. Gallons of blood leaked out of his wounds, and with his eyes wide open, Mr Roy slumped on the floor, dead.
"Take his phone, it will serve as an emergency battery." the leader calmly said to his underling and then drove forward as if nothing happened.
After witnessing a cold-hearted murder in front of their eyes, no citizen dared to talk back to the biker's gang.
'Rest in peace.' Felix repeated in his mind, looking at the corpse of a once-kind man.
"Papa!" a little Asian-American girl ran toward Mr Roy's dead body in tears. She shook his dead body, trying to wake him up while crying, "Papa please wake up! Wake up!"
"Your papa is dead, little girl." from a custom low-rider motorcycle, a tall man stood up, his muscles flexed as he walked towards the corpse to steal his phone.
Felix's grip on the gun tightened when he saw the merciless look in that man's eyes, but then he took a deep breath, glancing at Cathy and Kael who hid in the car.
'I can't risk their lives.' Felix loosened his grip on the gun and hid it back behind his waist, 'I am sorry, god. I can't be the nice guy like everyone.' his jaws clenched in shame as he lowered his head.
"Move away, girl." the gruff man said in a deep voice.
"NO!!" the girl cried harder, "You are a bad person!"
"Kids are so annoying." the man grumbled under his breath as he roughly grabbed the little girl's hair, plucking her off from her father's corpse.
He grabbed her head in his palm, raising her from the ground, "Shut the fuck up brat."
The girl began to kick her feet in the air, her tears staining her adorable face, "It hurts, let go! Bad guy!"
Felix closed his eyes in pain, trying to avoid the scene, but then he heard a rustle behind him.
He turned around and found Kael glaring at him- or rather, at the gruff man. Felix didn't know how much Kael had watched, but he clearly saw how the gruff man was going to hurt the little girl.
In a second, Kael took out his Glock and supported it with his other hand. He focused his eyes on the gruff man's skull while trying to stabilize his hand.
Before Felix could tell Kael to stop, Kael pulled the trigger without any hesitation.
Cathay gasped from the sidelines, she had never seen Kael with such a focused gaze before.
*Bang*
Felix reflexively covered his ear while Cathy and Morris were shocked.
"Ah fuck, it hurts." Kael lowered his hand as he felt his shoulder vibrate from the recoil.
Felix gritted his teeth and hissed, "Fuck, you alerted everyone. We need to leave. Now!"
"We need to save the kid first, Felix!" Kael retorted.
"I can't put our lives at risk any more than it already is for a girl I don't even know the name of," Felix said while kicking a door open.
"Well her name is Marie, and I am not as heartless bastard like you." Kael aimed again when he saw other gang members running towards their hiding spot.
The gruff man holding Marie was lying in a pool of blood as his skull was cracked open. Dead on the spot, while Marie was freed from his rugged grasp.
To Kael's delight, Marie's mother ran out of the building and dragged Marie away from her father's cold corpse.
"Better be a heartless bastard than a dead man." Felix jumped out of the Benz and pulled Cathy along with him as he dashed towards a motorcycle.
He had noticed the motorcycle the last time he came to collect batteries, but he had left it in working condition in case it came in handy. And by a stroke of luck, it will.
Since the bike was an old model, Felix didn't have much trouble bypassing it and starting it by connecting the ignition wires.
He jumped on the bike and turned to Cathy, gesturing her to sit.
"B-But Kael?" she hesitated.
"He wants to die a hero, and I don't want to die," Felix said coldly.
"I brought him along, let's go!" Morris, holding a passed-out Kael over his shoulders, said in a hurry.
Felix gazed at him deadpanned, but then he just shook his head and asked him to sit on the bike along with him.
He wanted to ask what Morris did to bring him along like this, but he figured it would be a waste of time.
"4 on 1 bike?" Cathy tried to sit but she had to tightly grab onto Morris's shoulder to not fall off, while Morris in return grabbed onto Felix for support.
"No choice," Felix grumbled and drove the bike without turning on his headlight. He planned to disappear in the dark and ditch the bike once they were a safe distance away.
Behind him, he could hear the loud sounds made by the custom bikes of the biker gang, but Felix kept his gaze focused, trying to look at the road despite the darkness.
Suddenly a light was shone over their rusty little bike, which drove very slowly due to the weight it carried.
The leader's customized Harley Davidsun drove at a high speed, quickly catching up to Felix's bike.
The leader didn't waste any time as he pulled the shotgun that was slung over his shoulders and aimed it at Felix.
Felix glanced at the bike behind him using his rear-view mirror and quickly turned in the left direction, barely avoiding the shotgun shells.
"Morris! Take Kael's gun and shoot back! Cathy hold on tight!" Felix barked his orders as he stepped on the accelerator.
"I can fight too!" Cathy wrapped her arm around Morris's waist to sit stably while taking out her own pistol.
She turned her head behind to look at the leader and found him smirking at the squad.
His shotgun was already aiming at the bike ahead of him.
The leader of the biker gang pulled the trigger.
